I think my launch day series X has give up the ghost, it has crashed a few times recently, I factory reset the console and this seemed to fix it but last night it crashed a couple of times and the last time I rebooted it there was a long message on screen but before I had a chance to read it, it crashed one last time.
After leaving it till today and power cycling it will not boot up, the power light comes on the console but there is no chime sound and no signal output, I have tried to boot into safe mode via holding eject and the link button but still no joy…..is it dead?
Try unplugging it from the wall - there is an issue with the xbox os where it sometimes soft locks.

If safe mode works the first fix to try is "reset xbox".

If this does not fix the issue you would need to try the 2nd option. This completely reinstalls the xbox offline os. You will need a pen flash drive - on the xbox it will give you a website to download the os from to the flash drive. You will need to dload the file from another device to the flash drive. Then connect the flash drive back to the xbox and the option should unlock (its greyed out normally).

No it won’t even boot into safe mode, no signal at all and there is no startup beep sound anymore, it doesn’t seem to be a power supply issue as it switches on but everything else is dead (apart from the cooling fan which spins for a few seconds then stops)
Edit: also cannot link a controller to it, it’s not responding to the pair button

Have you got an alternate 4k hdmi lead just to rule out this as the issue (if not amazon basics 4k hdmi lead is very cheap). Also try it in different ports in the TV. Also have a look at the hdmi port of your xbox (take a photo of it with your phone and zoom in) check if any pins are bent - if so bend them back gently with tweesers.

If not the fault will either be with the main board (ms repair required).

The internal drive - search youtube for videos of how to clone the internal drive and how to replace it - not easy but doable.

The power supply - replacement video below..

I did find this guy who bought a broken series x with a similar fault to yours and managed to fix it. He seems to enjoy repairing it so it may be worth reaching out to him to see if he would repair yours.

Thanks for the links I will check them out, I have tried different HDMI cables and different TVs to rule them out and still no luck, Xbox website quoting £300 repair! No chance I will pay that, it’s not as if I go on it loads to say it’s wear and tear (when I was a free and single teen/twenty something I would play every day on my previous consoles with no problems, including the obligatory all day marathons on ES Oblivion on my days off lol)
I’m off work this week so I’ve “borrowed” the kids series S to play Starfield :D:cry:

Since i built my PC last year, one of my friends commented last night why haven't i sold my series x? anything thats crossplay i play on PC obviously, anything that single player, PC.

What games are coming that aren't crossplay, COD, payday, Forza are all crossplay. Darktide is coming to Xbox soon and i want to play that with my mates on Xbox who couldn't play it on PC.

Gamepass obviously has some gems on it but many of them (but not all) are on PC as well.

Just wondering, would my series x (launch day model) that has gone bust be covered under the consumer rights act 2015? am I right in assuming the retailer has to either repair or replace up to 6 years after purchase?

What’s happened to it?

It would make sense to me that - if the leak is true - there won't be a PS5 pro.

Just a slimmer version right?
