I tried the controller initially, when the X on there just started flashing, I've used the button on the console every time since.

There's nothing at all, no clicks or lights or fans.
Sounds like it has died then :( Is it out of warranty ?

edit: one last thing ... have you tried plugging it in to a different wall socket ?

I bought it just after the initial launch, put it into the Microsoft warranty checker, and they want £300 to repair it.

Different lead, different extension, different wall socket, definitely seems dead unfortunately.

Not worth it at that price ... maybe wait until Monday ( cyber Monday ) to see if any deals. Or take it to a local repair shop if you have any .... could just be the power unit.

Broken series X.. standard... Power supplies love to go on them and they also like to just randomly short a 5v rail that kills them as well. All fairly easy fixes as long as it's not been opened by a numpty. Can always come and chat in my thread if you would like me to take a look.

I'll head over now, thank you, I've asked locally, but to no avail so far.

578 hrs ... 229 hrs on Series X, the rest on PC. Age of Empires 1 is my main game of the year ... and that's simply because I log in for 15 mins/day to earn MS Reward points lol ( and I do similar with Vampire Survivors - which means 180 hrs of that "console play time" is in absentia ).

edit: I should add that on closer inspection it's tallying hours of games I actually played on Steam eg. Core Keeper ( which is also on Game Pass ). Sneaky, Phil ! Is this what he means by "everything" is an Xbox now ?

My stats

315 hours total
221 on Xbox, 85 on PC (Age of Empires for rewards points), 3 on mobile (Solitaire) and 5 on cloud.

Most played is 85 hours of Age of Empires but this isn't real as I used to do it for the 250 points per day which has now been nerfed.

Next highest was Diablo 4 at 44 hours, EA Sports PGA Tour at 37 hours

I'm apparently top 15% for time played (16,000 minutes), top 1% for gamerscore 100,123 total, 11,897 and top 1% for achievements unlocked 408 this year.

Time well spent!

eeek

985 hrs played of which 936hrs on the xbox, 15hrs on hte PC (Geforce Now) and 33hrs on mobile (Solitaire/soduku I'd imagine).

Most played is Rogue Trader @ 351hrs and I played a total of 31 individual games...

Heh I guess this is what happens when your daughter won't sleep with the door closed and the her room is off the lounge - headphone gaming while hte missus watches tv elsewhere.
