Saw this posted on Reddit by a dev and gives a good run down of the specs.

That's all quite interesting. Seems "Smart Delivery" is present here too, with a "Series S" version of the game being loaded to the console, as opposed to an overall "Xbox Series" version with 1080p, 1440p and 2160p textures. Should help with disc space. Also, if the SSD is lower speed, expanding the storage should be cheaper.

It’s quite frightening that my entire PC, which cost about £1200 two years ago is pretty much matched by a console at £250.

Was thinking this. Built mine up over the past year or so. Ryzen 5 2600, 5700 XT, 16GB DDR4, etc. Well over a grand of hardware in total. Performance sits closer to the £250 Series S than the ~£450 Series X :p

But then I didn't build a PC with any illusion that it offered value for money gaming. I built it to play games that don't appear on console. I built it to do work. And I have an UW monitor, which still isn't supported on console.

If the Total War series came to console, then I might have some buyer's remorse.

Why advertising 1440p so much can many TVs actually handle 1440p input now ?

I thought when I looked a while back most did 1080p or 4k and nothing between

And does 1080p scale better to 4k or does 1440p ?

A lot of TVs will only do 120 hz at 1440p even if they are technically capable of 4k120 due to hdmi bandwidth limits with hdmi 2.0a.

1440p scales better as it has a higher resolution for pixel interpolation. 1080p just does pixel doubling so it’s clean but with a lot of aliasing.

You don't have to have one or the other. Get both and use the XBox as a Game Pass machine. Can even pay £20 monthly*

*guesstimate
It's one or the other for me I'm afraid. I can't justify spending on both when I'm barely going to even use one! Too many games, too little time.

I think parents will see this as the perfect box for their kids (the bedroom gamer who only has inherited the old 32" 1080p TV that use to be in the lounge before Daddy upgraded), especially with the GamePass sub meaning they don't need to have any further expenditure to get them up and running with a whole catalogue of games to play.

It also means they can get the Series X for the lounge (and utilise the same GamePass).

Can you share gamepass? Can't get it to work on mine despite being set as home console, needs the gamepass account actively signed in to allow access to games so I cant use the other xbox.

If Microsoft thinks parents will buy a gamepass sub for each console they can jog on.

Yes you can share Gamepass, only way I can get it to work though is:

1. Set my brothers console as my home
2. Sign in to my account on my xbox
3. Go to download Gamepass game on my xbox
4. Brother is then able to download the Gamepass game on his xbox

See if we do that the xbox that has been set as the home console but signed in to the other account just gets asked to join gamepass or sign in to the account with privileges.

Do u download it from the store or gamepass app?

I find it amusing how they're touting it as the Xbox with the smallest footprint ever, with the console stood up in promo images. Yet it's clearly intended to be placed horizontally. Even the Xbox logo is oriented that way. Upside? The weird black spot gets hidden as soon as it's placed on a shelf.
