I stated earlier in this thread (edit: the main series X thread) that it would take a lot for me to get the new Xbox, as I'm pretty much firm on getting the PS5, but watching the launch video has got me way more interested now.

The price is fantastic, and if it can really play at 1440p, I'd be very happy with that.

I believe the Last of Us 2 was at 1440p, and for me, that looked amazing on my 4k tv, so I doubt I would miss out on full 4k.

Main reason to get this would be for Flight Simulator 2020, and this looks like much better value than upgrading to a 3000 series gpu.

That monthly subscription model could be the clincher. I wouldn't have even considered a console but I think a lot of families are going to see that and think it's money well spent to keep the kids quiet and no upfront cost. Given cash flow for many might be tight right now it's good timing on the part of MS. It works for the mobile phone companies. It could see an uptick in the sales of 4K media too.

How long before Nvidia look at a subscription model for GPUs?

That will never happen, PC gamers is a different market all together

Never say never, I'm already hearing a lot of people say they'll buy a console rather than upgrade their GPU this time. How many Nvidia fans would get a new top of the range GPU if they could pay for it over time? I bet it'd be a lot more than currently. I think MS are going to sell a lot more consoles this time because of that.

See if we do that the xbox that has been set as the home console but signed in to the other account just gets asked to join gamepass or sign in to the account with privileges.

Do u download it from the store or gamepass app?

The store.

Probably never. They're not bothered how you buy their stuff, just that you do.

Series S does look to be a great deal. But I just can not get over the idea of colouring the top grill black. Makes it look like a one-ring hob :p

I'll repeat a little of what I've said earlier both here and elsewhere, and embellish it with a few new thoughts.

The proposed price of the S model has (pleasantly) surprised me. I don't care what it looks like - I genuinely could not give two short stuffs. The last physical disk game I bought was Dirt 4, so how long ago was that? I really don't mind moving away from the physical disk model at all. We don't have a 4k TV and currently have zero plans to obtain one.

All in all, if the Series S will play all "Next Gen" Xbox games and make them look good on our (55 inch????) HD TV, meaning that I will be able to play Fable, whatever the next Elder Scrolls turns out to be, the next Fallout, any other western RPGs that either come out cross-platform or MS exclusive, then I will be VERY happy to go from my (standard) PS4 to the Xbox Series S.

If the S is analysed in its first few months of use and suspected to be short-lived and not something that will give me years of those gaming experiences I wish for, then I'll probably choose the X instead. I'm very interested now to see what the price of that will be.

The S won’t be short lived. There are too many cool bits of tech that auto scale to power.

personally I’m looking at a 3080 or an X. I have an OG X1 and a launch 980 GTX. Currently leaning toward the X.

The Series S will go on for years and years. Later on it'll be like choosing to play PC games on high rather than Ultra.

The gamertag with the sub needs to download the game first. Then the 2nd person can download.

Does anyone know if i was to buy some Gold membership codes and apply them to my account, will that just top up my current Gamepass Ultimate membership?

So I'm covered until October 22. If I buy a 3 month gold sub and add it to my account, will my GPU then run to Jan 23? Or do I have to buy GPU codes now?

I wasn't going to go with MS next gen but christ that is an attractive offer as a Game Pass box. I don't need three consoles but it's almost too good to ignore. Will wait for some DF impressions/comparisons before I make my mind up.

Sell them all then buy a new gen. Problem solved. :)

Almost. I have already decided to go PS5 and I'll keep my Switch and upgrade that if and when. I wasn't going to go for an xbox as well because whilst I had some good times with it this gen the PS4 and Switch were more than enough with what little time I have. My PS4 is on it's last legs and my OG XB1 doesn't read discs so they're pretty much worthless so I'll just chuck them in a cupboard somewhere and move on.

I believe it converts at a lower rate (IIRC 75%). So it wouldn't extend all the way through to 23rd Jan.
