How are you finding the 470's handling the new res in games?

They handle everything fine.
So far I can play everything at maximum settings with 4AA. The only game I have had to turn settings down on is BF3. I haven't had to turn them down due to lack of grunt, this will happily play BF3 maxed with an average of 70-80 fps (although I use adaptive vsync so I no longer go over 60fps anyway), but you get the odd stutter because BF3 likes vram. I have turned off MSAA but I still keep post AA on high, this eliminates all stutter and jaggies and everything else is still set to ultra. All other games I play have been no problem at all :)

hmm, I may just wait. The model i am looking at is:

Perfect Pixel - Yamakasi Catleap Q270 SE 27" LED 2560x1440 WQHD S-IPS Monitor

If you notice, it says "SE" hmm. Confused.

Great to know - cheers :)

My catleap s currently winging its way over from Korea, hoping it will be here by the weekend though I think it depends on how long DHL hold it before I can pay the duty or whatever!

SE just mean "lite" version.
No built in speakers and only the dual DVI connection.

It's the version I have because I don't need built in speakers.

How does it compare to the Hazro 8-bit WC model at £399?

If you look at the Achieva Shimian that's virtually identical to the Hazro HZ27WC. It uses the same LG S-IPS panel, the bezel/shroud looks the same (if not extremely similar) and it has the same single DVI input. The only difference is it's a lot cheaper but comes with no warranty.

It's up to you if the extra £175 for the Hazro is worth it.

The one I ordered was

Perfect Pixel - 3View PCBank PB2700 Super 27" LED 2560x1440 WQHD S-IPS Monitor

They are all essentially the same just different cases. They are the same screens used in the Hazro 8 bit panels as far as I'm aware.

If you get a good one it's stunning but it is a big gamble as you have no Warranty and no protection other than paypal.

It will be good to see how long they last, the build quality is not the greatest. I have had mine apart this morning and re-flowed a few dodgy solder joints and added about 3 screws that were missing but other than that it works perfect...

The only thing putting me off right now is the Support for faulty items, and sending it off etc..

That's the risk unfortunately but with a £175 saving over the next cheapest UK 27" IPS it's a risk a lot of people are prepared to take. I know I'm going to get the Achieva Shimian as soon as funds allow.

Tbh I would be very doubtfull of any support even if you did send it back to Korea. Personally I would just accidentally drop the thing of the desk and claim on the home insurance rather than send it back to Korea....

But then how much would your house insurance go up as you would lose your no claims discount.

Sign up for text alerts, DHL will text you if it gets held then you can pay it online straight away. Depending on what time it gets held at it can mean a delay of a day as it may miss the delivery driver for that day as happened with mine (on a Friday too so had to wait whole weekend!).

the packaging from him is poor as well, brown paper, no bubble wrap, not good enough.

I agree that the packaging could be made a whole lot better with the simple addition of some bubble wrap. Even just getting buffetted around with no exterior protection must lead to the type of problem you suffered in terms of wires working their way loose rather than the panel getting damaged or the like.

Did you get the warranty with yours? Because that would take me to £328 or something like that, Im looking at the Catleap Zero Dead pixel - Pixel Perfect. so i may just get the Hazro at that cost?

Im looking on the bay, from seller bigclothcraft

Thanks

£328 is getting into the kind of territory where you might consider just getting a UK model for the RMA as at that price it doesn't represent the kind of savings the lower priced ones do. I paid £227 for pixel perfect PCBANK and £13 in duty charges so all in it was £240. It is however as you will see from the vast array of stories on here that it can be a bit of a lottery in so many ways. Risk vs Reward I guess.

Nice, Glad you got it sorted you can now order another one and start again....

Tbh the best bit is watching the tracking... :D

They are selling them that fast at the moment that refunding a few that end up in tatters probably works out in the longer term. I mean just look at how many the main sellers have sold over the last few months.

But yeah glad you got it sorted. Are you going to get another, or just be glad you got your money back?

Better go adjust that feedback!

ive told him to send a feedback revision thing :D

I think if a seller gets 1 or 2 negatives a month, it can really effect them, like ebay put limits on things or listings, serious stuff!
