Yamakasi Catleap 27" 100mhz IPS

Even if my catleap could do 100-120Hz I would still leave it at 60Hz as I am pretty sure LG would have tested these panels at higher than 60Hz refresh rates over a length of time and found they are not stable or it damages the screen.

Maybe within a year someone will make a 27" 2560x1440 120Hz S-IPS panel but I bet it will cost about 3 times as much as a catleap. And in a years time someone will say 'I am going to wait as within 12 months someone will make a 27" 2560x1600 240Hz diamond-IPS panel that makes a cup of tea while I play COD MW8' :D. For me, I don't tend to wait for something as you will just keep hearing about something else 'on the horizon'.

Gooday guys, I've just ordered myself a PCBank Super from the lovelykoreancompanywhomakelotsoflovelythingsincludingaverypopularandroidphone_korea seller. £229 it came to, although I thought it would be £222 but the auction sites 'estimated' price did not match up to the payment processor that they themselves own, funny that? Looking forward to tracking it, I've asked the seller to mark it at around £70-£80 - we will see what happens. I'm pretty sure it is going to destroy my 6850 but oh well, I mainly only play Footy Manager anyway...(on a crusade with Dartford town)

Best first post ever.
Welcome to the forums, you'll fit right in.

lovelykoreancompanywhomakelotsoflovelythingsincludingaverypopularandroidphone_korea seller don't even wrap the box in brown paper, they just whack a label on it and off it goes.
I fed back to them via email that I thought this might be a bit risky as the plastic arch broke on the back of mine, but I never heard anything back.
Don't want to worry you though, I'm sure it will be fine, they may even have secretly changed their packaging procedures.

i dont know what i want more, 120hz or 1440p :confused::confused::confused:

I sold my 120Hz for 1440p and yes, I mainly play games including BF3.
1440p > 120Hz any day :)

That's how OCUK sent my last monitor, just a sticker on the box. Granted OCUK don't post from Korea mind. I ordered my Catleap from dream-seller and they had the box wrapped in loads of bubble wrap. :)

Sharing my experiences.

I bought a PCBANK PB2700 SUPER from BigClothCraft on Ebay, seller was very communicative and quick responding to questions. Also asked me for price on invoice and to mark as gift, so I said £120 ish i think. Either way, I just had to pay £20 duty when it got delivered, so a total spend of about £230-250 for this monitor. Not bad at all!

The monitor does buzz a little as mentioned by others, I will fix this when I can be bothered :)

Zero dead pixels and the colour configuration is reasonable out of the box. I personally use 1.4 gamma and +10% digital vibrance.

Gaming is decent on it, at least for the non super fast FPS games. I use my 120hz Benq for BF3 but the new PCBANK for everything else. Response times are also very good for a monitor of this size. Its worth noting that the PCBANK has the best response time (slightly) of all of these Catleap copies, probably because of no OSD and only a single DVI input (more circuitry lowers response times FYI)

The stand is ****e. It turns too easy, has no elevation (mine is sitting on a box to get height). But at least the mounting screws are easy to get to on this model.

Either way, at £250 all in its not the end of the world if something does break on it considering the 'normal' screens with this panel are £800-1000.

I had to lower my brightness to 35%, gamma 1.1, digital vibrance 40%.

Out of the box, the brightness is too bright.

How would I would fix the buzzing? have never done anything like this before.

You need to apply some hot glue to the two coils on the screen PSU board. I have done mine and its almost silent now...

The screen comes apart by removing the back screws and gently pulling the front bezel off. It is held by clips at the edges. Next is removing the panel there are 6 screws down the sides and two plugs to remove. Be really carefull with the panel as any twists or knocks will knacker it. The PSU board is the smaller one and the coils are the two small square devices marked 220 on top. A dab of hot glue on each edge is enough. Once the glue has set in about an hour whack it back together and hope it still works..

Job done.. further back in this thread I posted pics of the internals of the screen...

Apparently the Hazros are 'assembled' in the UK so they must buy the parts from Korea, ship them over here and assemble them in the dusty warehouse they have (a little joke for the people who bought the glass version ;))

I wonder if Hazro are watching this thread as someone from Hazro has posted on these forums 178 times.

Hazro assemble in the UK to avoid Customs duty which would apply if they were assembled abroad and then imported into the UK. My understanding is normally duty is 3.75% for electrical times but there is a special rate of 14% for monitors if the value is over a certain value (around £135).

So doing the sums if buyers were paying the correct tax they would pay something like £220 monitor liable for Customs 14% £31, VAT 20% £44 and courier handling £10, so could end up costing £305. Sure buyers are getting these for around £250 but only because of tax evasion. Effectively spending 33% in shipping costs which is absorbed by lower quality panels and electronics being used.

This is vs. the Hazro WC @ £399 from OCuk with a 14 day satisfaction guarantee, a three year warranty, factory calibration and apparently better quality electronics used in the build. When OCuk occasionally sell the WC at £350 I think it makes it a great offer.

Catleap have different options.
The most popular being only the DVI input and no OSD as it is the cheapest one. So response times will be the same.

editing post - going to be selling my catleap I think going for a matte instead of a glossy - brillent screen just dont think I can do glossy.
