Yamakasi Catleap 27" 100mhz IPS

OK - got my monitor delivered via DHL from bigclothcraft which unfortunately had been damaged in transit. My wife signed for it as I was at work, but ticked the box to say the packaging was damaged. I was hoping the inner polystyrene may have saved me but upon opening the box, the back silver panel (catleap) was broken off.

I could live with that as long as the monitor worked but I'm gutted to say that upon powering the monitor, there is a massive area of light bleed in the top right hand corner from which I assume was caused by the impact.

I have emailed the seller - does anyone have any experience with this seller dealing with this kind of thing? Absolutely gutted as the part of the screen that worked looked amazing :(

Also, should i raise a dispute with paypal yet, or wait for the guy to respond?

Yep, I got my wife to take a vid of the entire package before opening it and I got some pics as well. Gutted.

Oh well, off to Tae Kwon Do sparring to release some frustration....

I've message bigclothcraft, i asked what happens if the monitor is faulty if i bought one, and he said he would offer exchange. He takes a while to message back, but I'd wait for a response first.
 
Guys some advice please, tried to follow this thread but is very confusing!

Im going to order:
ACHIEVA 27" LED 2560x1440 WQHD S-IPS Quad HD Monitor QH270-IPSB Tempered Glass

AM i correct in think all the different brands are essentially the same and just to choose what you like the look of? Hence why ive chosen this as i like the styling.

Glass or no glass? Ive selected glass as my room gets quite dusty?

Customs - What should i ask the seller to do. Gift / £35 value or send as a warranty replacement so no customs charge? Ordering from from bigcloth guy.

Anythink else i should consider before buying? Im going to offer £215 for the above model, non pixel perfect.
 
Bad luck PJHUK he does take a while to get back in touch but this is only because of S.Korea being 9 hours ahead of us so if you e-mail him now he may read it in about 5 hours time when he starts work but when he e-mails back you will be asleep and then of course he will ask you some questions which you have to e-mail back with the answer but he probably will have left work by then so won't respond straight away. That is what I found when I ordered on Monday but my catleap was only despatched this morning because of communication delays.

Keep us informed of any developments PJHUK, if you can, as this will help us with any problems we may encounter.

Thanks :) Nice having a british forum for my computery ways, although they certainly have wained off since my prime which was when I was an excited 15 year old with more money than sense. Alas I am now a 21 year old philosophy student with no where near as much money (and perhaps even less sense).

I fed back to them via email that I thought this might be a bit risky as the plastic arch broke on the back of mine, but I never heard anything back.
Don't want to worry you though, I'm sure it will be fine, they may even have secretly changed their packaging procedures.

Oh, there is always fear, although mine is mainly getting stung by customs, then the monitor being faulty, posting it back, getting a new monitor and getting stung by customs again.

Is it possible you could post the damaged screen pics on here? I'm just curious to the state it's in.

You've also made me super paranoid now, as mine is meant to be arriving tomorrow, and with all this rain, I'm worried its going to have been thrown around a little : (

Sure thing. Package arrived like this:

the back bracket had been snapped off.....

the impact of which i'm guessing is the cause of the light bleed by the clock, pic taken without flash to try and capture it - looks worse off camera :(

As you can also see, the screen is quite reflective lol
 
I am still wondering who makes the PCBANK, YAMAKASI, and the Achieva Shimian. Do they have an official website, are they the same company, just selling different monitor versions?
 
Thanx PJ defo looks like its been through the wars, fingers crossed you get a replacement sent quickly. I have seen some stories of sellers eventually just sending out a new monitor, without the other being sent back.

They are all made by K-Display, Where who knows this is there registered address ?

I'm just staying up and hoping that they will update with tracking before I pass out (or if there is anything I need to respond to so they will read it on their friday). Girlfriend is off on a night out, I guess I could stay up until she gets back...
