are they still 100 mhz or not anymore ?

I think, from what I've read, it's very unlikely that you'll get one that can OC.

I'm more than happy with 60Hz, I don't see the appeal in the higher refresh rates. My favourite game to play online is Halo Reach which is great fun at 60Hz (it might even run at 30fps some games do) if there's every a problem it's always down to the internet speed. I know the higher fps would be for PC only but just saying :)

Always had a hard choice with monitor purchases, the issue is who is going to touch a TN panel after seeing just how much better then IQ is with a IPS panel, the colours and sharpness and detail is off the scale with these IPS panels.

Seems LG and Samsung have not bothered to release 27" + IPS panels, and they seem comfortable to release TN panels for gamers with 120hertz and 3D be it active or passive.

Seems its up to hazro, dell and CATleap + Koreans to offer better choices.

Would have ideally loved to wait for a 27" IPS panel with 120hertz or 3D or both but that does not seem to be ever arriving this decade :(

Even if a company was to bring out an all singing and dancing 27", IPS, 3D screen.

Can you imagine how much it would cost

Bet you would be able to buy three of these and still have money over to get latest and greatest sli or crossfire setup.

My crossfire monitor is ordered and hope I get it before bank holiday. My powercolor 7870 PC version is on its way as well.

Going to be as happy as pig in ****.

Samsung did release the S27A850D which confusingly enough isn't a 120Hz TN like the S27A950D and S27A750D but a 60Hz PLS. So not an IPS, but pretty much the same thing.

It already disappeared off the market already however. I'm fairly sure they'll be releasing better screens with the same technology/screen size. The S27A850D had quite a lot of backlight bleed problems, hopefully they managed to resolve that.

yeah noticed it vanished also... the LG one thats due I am aware of not sure if the passive 3d will be that great...

Still it is a great shame no ones really released a 120hertz IPS 27" display...

Am sure it will cost a bomb but it maybe one of those screens that would do you well for 5 years+ and considering one looks at the screen 99% of the time with there PC it should be as good as it gets really.

On all the auctions they say these are not compatible with laptops with integrated graphics; why is this?

Surely my MBA which can output Dual Link DVI would be able to drive it, just like any other 27" monitor?

I can't see why not, I think they may be covering themselves for the ones that don't have Dual Link DVI. I have a MacBook Pro which I will want to use on my monitor when I get it, I only have a hdmi adapter though so I think 1080 will be max. As well as this I ordered the multi input version which will be able to handle lower resolutions such as an xbox, and will have an os. Probably not an accurate test for the single input versions.

In North America they are quietly switching over to the S27A850T (very similar model, possibly an upgraded panel and some slight input changes). They are soon to release the S27A970 model which is kind of like the SA850 crossed with an Apple LED Cinema Display. Samsung have confirmed that they are all too aware of the issues people have been having with the first PLS generation and have made fabrication modifications for the new lineup. Should be an interesting release but no date has been given and seeing as it's Samsung that wouldn't be much reassurance anyway. ;)

The SA970 caught my eye back in January after i tried a Hazro, which suffered from everyone of their QC issues.

I just want something that is 27 IPS, glossy, has no QC issues and isnt made by apple. I had pinned my hopes on the Samsung, your post would seem to suggest i may be disappointed?

Maybe you are misinterpreting what I said. You will only be disappointed if for whatever reason you aren't prepared to wait a few months for it to be released. Samsung are aware of the issues with the previous 8 series PLS models and seem to be rectifying them with the new models.

I'll be hopeful. According to tracking it is now at the International Post Office (3rd step of the tracking journey) :)

How do 460s in SLI cope with this res out of curiosity?

They cope fine, however i've only played team fortress 2! Happy to run any benchmark you want though?

This is how long mine took btw (personal info removed):

It said they left a notice on the 26th, they did not. The notice came on the 27th and I paid it the same day, it was then delivered on the 28th as stated.

Ordered one of these last night, looking to replace my current dual screen Dell setup. Had been tempted to go for a refurb u2711 for £400 but this seems a steal at £229. It is evidently somewhat 'no frills' display and I'm not expecting the build quality to be anything special but the panel looks hugely impressive for the money :)

I hope mine doesn't get passed to customs like yours did :(
Mine is now showing at Heathrow.
