Your bad driving encounters

I mentioned earlier on this thread that I have noticed the following Trifecta of Twatness:

1. German marque car (VW, BMW, Merc, Audi etc)
2. Private Plate (extra points if spaced wrongly)
3. "4D" Style plate.

When you have all 3 together, you can be be very confident that the person inside drives like a **** and to steer clear.
Then there’s the 4D plates with a different colour border like these. https://www.easynumberplates.com/pr...t-neon-edition-5mm-replacement-number-plates/

Then seen plates with characters which stick out like this https://plates4.co.uk/products/5d-c...6bZo1lUkM3_1VsbcJgbKeENU8AFQz_S9ijxZIAcJsAmX8

Then got those with smoked/tinted plates who have them to bypass ANPR cameras. I’m very wary of any car with these as generally are d***h*** drivers with no consideration of their actions

Add those weird “oil slick” windscreens. What are they all about? Are they legal?

Was on the M1 the other day quite late. Speed went down to 40...hardly any cars in sight.

Gantry reported "cyclist on carriageway"...thought tf. About 20 MINUTES LATER, I spot this numpty working for Deliveroo riding in the active inside lane at about 20mph. Unfortunately I was distracted and didn't get the dash cam footage, but it was quite funny.

Balls of steel or stupidity? One of lifes great questions, why do cyclists go on dual carriageways.

Had a learner in front of me today weaving all over the place, erratically at times ( no biggie , learners do that sometimes).. 2003 Micra with one brake light working....
And then proceeded to follow them straight onto the M40!!

Wonder if the police spotted them at any point

"Can any learner drive on a motorway?

Learner drivers wishing to practice on motorways will have to be accompanied by an approved instructor in a dual-control car fitted with L-plates. Their instructor will also have to be satisfied that the learner is competent enough to have lessons on motorways."

From https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/learning-to-drive/learner-drivers-on-motorways/

Having said that, I don't think an approved driving instructor would be driving in a car with a failed brake light.

As I was joining a main road at crossroads today had a 40MPH everywhere type cross in front of me, with someone behind them and then from the opposite direction a boy racer type came racing up and nipped in behind them ahead of me... came to a place to pass and the first car went with a bit of angry horn and the passenger gesturing out the window, get about 100-150 yards ahead and slows down to 40MPH and stays at 40MPH... from the way it was struggling on hills after that I reckon they got EML/limp mode when they gave it some to overtake which would be ******* ironic.

Boy racer type for some reason doesn't go past despite being loads of road left, possibly had some indication they'd had a problem and held back, so I got stuck behind them until the next town.

If the learner isn't driving, the L plate should be removed. These magnetic plates are useless as fall off - picked many of them on litter picks.

My parents stuck the L plates inside the car with blu tak during my learning to drive days.

Not a driving encounter, but walking back to my car last night, someone had mounted the kerb (which I don't understand anyway) and there was only about an inch of the tyre on the kerb so 80% of the tyre was just hanging in mid air. Those are the really poor drivers imo.

Struggling to turn right at a 'temporary' mini round about just outside work.. they are putting in a cycleway, so the roundabout was added a while back, but they've now moved the lanes over a bit, which means cars going straight across the round about don't have to go around it at all, just blast straight through.

Yesterday I went fully around the centre, indicating right, going slowly, but cars going straight on just piled through obliviously, and some guy in an Audi rather than stopping, swerved around my front end and gave me glaring looks like I'm in the wrong..
Today I thought maybe by going around, I'm not in their peripheral vision, so went over the top of it, indicating right, going slowly, but some Transit doing 50-60 (in a 30) still blasted through, I jammed on, he swerved violently.. and beeped his horn

I don't normally drive to work, so asked how people are dealing with it and everyone is having the same experience.. shame as they are temporary but it has changed what used to be a 30 minute wait at peak times to exit work ,to 1 or 2 minutes as all the businesses all seem to have the same finish times!

Clearly you haven't read the Highway Code. Much like cyclists, motorbikes and taxis, Transits (and other white van man type vehicles) are exempt from speed limits, Give Way, safe stopping distances, and basically all other regulations :p

I really don't understand why most people can't just drive "normally" - on my way to work there is a sequence of 2 lane traffic light controlled junctions at the start of a dual-carriageway where it is still 40 MPH for a couple of hundred yards or more. It is always a mess of people who take forever to get going, people who never do more than 30, people who will go out in lane 2 if there is 1 or more cars waiting at the lights yet not do the speed limit or take forever to get up to it, blocking people who might want to move out to lane 2 to get past slower stuff and people who just blast through at whatever speed they'll do once they get to the NSL any way regardless that it is still a 40 there.

Here is one from yesterday - as I was approaching the first set of lights the blue car behind me clearly wanted to get going so I stayed in lane 1 to let them go, the 2 white cars then subsequently came along and moved to lane 2, vehicles in front of me were slow getting going and barely doing 30-35 in the 40 so I was wanting to move to lane 2 to pass them, I'd have gone as soon as I passed the first junction if I could, but was blocked from doing so by the cars in lane 2 who were barely going faster (they were not doing 40 even), I have to ease off to let the first white car in ahead of me and then once the second one passes I pull out expecting them to get going... and they don't, for reference the van is doing approx. 56MPH once they get going. Eventually the second car moves over and I get up to 70, only for the white car I'd just passed to then finally get up to 70 so I have to put my foot down to create a decent gap to move back to lane 1... something the dashcam doesn't show very well either is their speeds were quite inconsistent with a lot of wandering between ~50 and ~60 MPH which was especially irritating as it made staying a good distance back difficult.

I can understand easing off a bit as you approach the junction off to the right in the middle of the clip as it can be lethal if you aren't on the ball and someone pulls out of there with the limited visibility on approach due to the rise in the road but still.

Cut the audio as I was using some choice language along the lines of "get ****** moving" and can't be bothered to filter it.

Personally I just get up to 40 in a reasonable time, get to the NSL sign and get to 70 job done and don't go in lane 2 unless I'm intending on getting going. I'm not actually bothered at all about getting through the lights at a more sedate pace as long as I can get moving once on the dual-carriageway proper.

Nearly got t boned at a cross roads where a corrola estate completely overshot the junction where they should stop. I had enough space to swerve and brake as they stopped directly across the main flow of traffic. Squeaky bum time, think I’m going to get a dashcam as it’s incredible what can happen in a matter of seconds.

Sadly seems to be happening more and more at crossroads with stop signs where people just go :( too much of our road infrastructure IMO dates back to an age with different traffic volumes, etc. and while not dramatically different, different driver attitudes, etc. I see more and more people these days who just don't care or distracted by their phone or passenger, etc. and is just dangerous in today's world.

did the 2 white cars know one another - did the smaller one brake check the van (the oddest thing in the clip) because he couldn't see his mate

need an option on dashcam to show speed (up to a capped 70mph) - it's difficult to judge motivations when you can't see if people(youngsters) are being very cautious about temporarily exceeding 70mph;
if they have a black box in the car, say, maybe you drive differently, well I might if I thought insurance might double if you exceeded limit.
