Your controversial gaming opinions?

I can't play Witcher 3, mainly because of the combat. I click once and he starts spinning around like a moron, I hate it when the avatar does complicated moves in response to one click. If the devs want spinning around in their game, why not implement it through a set of moves? Make me work for it a bit? Who's playing the game here, me or the dev? W3 was a waste of money for me. Don't even get me started on the Batman games.

It is implemented through a set of moves. One click give you one swipe, but W3's combat is quite tactical especially against harder monsters. The out of combat movement is what I found clumsy :p

Esports are just utter utter Tosh

I agree with that on a lot of modern games, like Overwatch. A terrible "esport" game, but Blizzard keep throwing money at it to keep it on the esport scene artificially. Even though no one actually watches it, because it's also awful to watch (poorly designed maps and one big spammy *********** of flashy effects).

Where as games like UT become esports on their own merit (and still are). Through just being very good and balanced.

Consoles , one day, will become obsolete, thus transforming into streaming/subscription based models where one doesn't need the box anymore. Console peasants that bought into the console ecosystem will lose their **** when it happens.

Meanwhile on PC, you'll have the best of both worlds, you can download your games or stream them. Just as you can now.

PC gaming/systems will become more portable and powerful as chips get more integrated. ATX systems will become niche at one point.

PC gaming > console gaming. Always has been, always will be...

Nail on head!! Really cannot agree with this enough...You just end up feeling totally disconnect with your character and end up watching the game rather than playing it.
I blame the console crowd!

Console gaming > PC gaming

More comfortable for longer. Less cheating. More relaxed.
I play PC games with a 360 controller and don't play MP games :p Otherwise I'd probably agree.

But for a SP focused gamer who isn't wed to his m+k, PC does have a fantastic indie scene that dwarfs the console indie scene.

Multiplayer sucks! Cheating, abuse, racism, hatred etc. and even on a 240Meg connection, the hit detection still does not work properly in the year 2017! And instead of actually deisgning a level with AI and set-pieces etc. it's just a box for the screaming kids to run around in and entertain themselves. Lazy.

I also have a controller for single player games, but it's still not the same. I've got a large TV for my Xbox, and a comparatively small monitor for PC. Even with a nice desk chair it's not as comfy :(

There will be a need for a box regardless of the delivery/payment model. Be it a PS, xBox or whatever. I don't see mainstream gaming being integrated into smart TVs for a long time and streaming games isn't the answer until most people in developed countries get really good broadband

Some companies tried game streaming services already, it didn't work very well even with a good connection. You can't get around the input delay etc. Unfortunately physics gets in the way :P

Bioshock sucks balls. SS2 smacks it around so badly it doesn't know what year it is.
Bioshock isn't bad, it's just that it doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as System Shock 2, except to observe that the titles both contain the word "shock".

Witcher 3 is just endless tedious dialogue and pointless quests for little to no reward after a while with a lack of any actual fun gameplay.

all resident evil games are garbage, all of them, especially the older ones.

Blasphemy!!!

I don't have massively controversial gaming opinions, but one that springs to mind would be that Horizon Zero Dawn is crap, overrated garbage. Uninteresting character, uninteresting combat, uninteresting game world.

It's just uninteresting.

I disagree. It's already going down this path.

Spencer told Bloomberg: "Microsoft will probably debut a streaming service that doesn't require a console for some types of content in the next three years".

It won't be forced on consumers instantly, like MS tried to do with their original plan for the X1. They'll be subtle about it, implementing it piece by piece.

Also, technology will progress, so you won't have the bottlenecks you've got just now.

Consoles are on borrowed time and MS/Sony know it. Console peasants just don't want to accept the inevitability.

Deadly Premonition is a terrible game.

TF2 got better with Hats (until they brought in too many, then it just got worse)

Spelunky would be better without permadeath.

I liked Assassin's Creed 3.

Most modern pixel art games look terrible - use a more modern engine!

Just Cause 3 is no-where near as good as 2.

5 from me :D :

- The Witcher 3 is not only overrated but actually very boring with a mundane fighting system, garbage controls and too many sodding cutscenes! (I do love CD Projekt as a dev though I have to say!)
- Anything, and I mean anything that remotely resembles Anime is awful and repetitive and as most of it resembles child porn it needs to be nuked from orbit.
- DOTA2 is not only an awful game but its community is a cancerous polyp on the anus of gaming that needs to be irradiated
- Have never ever understood why Mario games are so highly rated when they are simply bog standard platformers.
- The latest Tomb Raider games are nothing but cutscene and QTE ridden pieces of linear garbage masked by pretty graphics.

That last one isn't controversial at all, terrible game.
