Asrock have confirmed with ket on xs that official 1.0 bios is the best for overclocking. The other two are simply bug fixes for input devices

I just received my 2700K this morning from OCUK and I now need a MB.
The Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 was recommended to me for my video editing and encoding.

After reading most of this thread it looks like the Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 would be a good choice, an I right in thinking this?

If so, I also need to buy the correct memory and cooler.
Any idea what to get to suite this board.
I dont plan to be overclocking.

Cooler, will allow overclocking up to around 4.6GHz, which would be easily attainable.

LOL - Sounds too good to be true mate, but yep - thats it!!!
For 4.8Ghz + you then have to enable PLL Overvoltage and mess with manual settings. For the lazy amongst you (me included tbh!) stick with the 4.6 profile and you can't go wrong - everything on AUTO (barr memory which should be on XMP)

Not really, as long as they have enough cpu cooler clearance. Mine are low profile.

Yep, the 4.6 profile is absolutely rock solid, and it needs further tweaks above that so I'll definitely stick at that.

Love this board, my old X58 ud3r always felt a touch flaky when clocked, this is nothing like that.

Yeah i found that and it is set to automatic mode but it still has a fan profile (or something similarly named) ranging from 1 to 9. What should it be set to so that the fans run at 900rpm (lowest) on idle and 1300rpm (highest) under load?

My Cpu2 and Sys1 are set to 45c level 6.

You can play around with the settings in windows using ASRock eXtreme Tuner, to find the profile that suits you best.

What's a reasonable overclock to aim for with a 2500k and Antec Kühler 920 ? 4Ghz should be easily do-able but what about 4.4 - 4.5Ghz ?

Could i please ask if this cooler, the Noctua NH-U12P and Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (I need 4 sticks in total) would be OK with the Z68 Extreme4 Gen3.
The cooler wont get in the way of the ram!

That's one thing I love about this motherboard is the ease of overclocking - just selecting a speed and it doing the rest for me (unless I decide to tinker).
