Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

ok and let windows mange the ssd right?
I haven't used the Marvell SATA ports the ones on the right, and haven't installed the drivers. They offer a further two SATA3 ports if you need them. I've just installed the Intel chipset drivers for managing the 4 SATA2 and 2 SATA3 ports.

This motherboard is just sooooo, ridiculously, insanely, good, I achieved this benchmark at 5.1 GHz on AIR. How can this be possible?

The question really is what CPU voltage did you have to use to get there and what sort of load temperatures are you getting?

I don't know, because I was just messing about trying to find the chip's bootable limit after my first manual overclock at 5 GHz, where I achieved IBT at max 10 runs passed at +0.90 v offset, average temp was 72 degrees, top temp 76 degrees. Mind you the board does throttle a lot more at this level, do you know how to control it?

Just ordered this board to replace a dead ASRock Z68 PRO3. If it's as good as everyone says I will order another for my brother's new machine

Ordered from OCUK with the £5 off they gave me with my last order

Looking forward to OCing on it... the perk of building 3 PCs for my house is I get to keep whichever i5 is the best overclocker for my personal machine!

guys just installing now. cant work out where the power swtich goes as my case 650d has 2 pins

It goes as shown below.

For the power and reset switches it doesn't matter which way you connect the +ve and -ve.

The disk activity and power LED's need to be connected with the correct polarity.

what is the deal with the drivers? seems to be a few for each things?

installing the SATA3 driver from the cd and i have the choice of Asmedia and Marvell ???
I think the Asmedia controller is on the ASRock Z68 Fatal1ty Gen3. Don't think it's on the Extreme4 afaik(?). I didn't use/install the Marvell ports/drivers.

Haven't read the whole thread, but is anyone using this board with the 8GB G.Skill sniper kit or the 8GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer kit?

Any compatibility issues?

Not sure about the G.Skill sniper kit or the 8GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer kit. But these expensive ram kits don't seem to offer any real performance benefits with a Sandy Bridge system. Unless you want them for the aesthetics they're not worth the extra price.

I've got the Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit and even though it's Cas 10, when I did the obligatory 5GHz Super Pi run my time of 7.503 was one of the very fastest 2500K times, even with 70 + processes running and no optimisations what so ever :D
