Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

Use CHA_FAN 2 or 3 and make sure it's set to full on in the hardware monitor section of the bios.
Or does it come with an adapter from 3 pin to molex, so you can plug it directly into the Psu.

guys does it matter what slot my Gcard is in? i have it in the top one at present. but would prefer it to be lower if it makes no odds.

Have it in the top one so it gets a full 16X, the second slot is 8X (shared from the top 16X so that then becomes 8X if a card is fitted in the second slot).

It's a lovely case.. I also have one ;)

I just wish they had added a little more space into the back panel. It's a very tight fit with lots of cables down the back :(

yes! mine is popping out! but great how they can get the front so neat. (try stuff cables under neigh the hard drive bays, seems to be a large area to feed space cables in.

Nice clean build mate - well done jimlad ;)

heres mine with watercooling - just waiting on the GPU block arriving:

How come you've used the USB3 drive bay thingy inside your case lol! - You do know you can mount an SSD directly onto the existing 3.5" plastic drive bay holders?

Nice job there Jimlad, if you can't fit the Usb 3 caddy in the front of the case, there's a rear mounting bracket to give you 2 extra ports at the back ;)

looks nice mate, and the US3 ports are just sat there in case i need them, to be fair i have the 2 at the back and dont currently have any USB3 products. i have ordered a converter to make the front USB ports go straight to the mobo. As those cables that come with the case are pass through ones and don't work with my nice neat cables ;)

i have a SSD mounted in the 3.5 drive bay, its directly above the 2 mechanical drives

yeah its the massive cables that come with the case that stops me mounting the USB3

Ahh I see, was going to suggest plugging that usb 3 caddy into the motherboard, then plug the case usb 3 into the caddy and hide it behind the back tray. But if you've ordered a neater solution that's

yeah its a short cable that goes to the mobo and then has two USB3 ports that the cables plug into. cant link though :(

so can i use pci slot3 as i want the gcard lower really. but dont wanna lose speed

There are only 2 PCI slots lol

PCI-E 3 is only x1, do you mean PCI-E 4 ?

PCIE slots:
PCIE1 / PCIE3 (PCIE 2.0 x1 slot) is used for PCI Express cards with x1
lane width cards, such as Gigabit LAN card, SATA2 card, etc.
PCIE2 / PCIE4 (PCIE 3.0 x16 slot) is used for PCI Express x16 lane
width graphics cards, or used to install PCI Express graphics cards to
support CrossFireXTM or SLITM function.
PCIE5 (PCIE 2.0 x16 slot) is used for PCI Express x4 lane width graphics
cards, or used to install PCI Express graphics cards to support
3-Way CrossFireXTM function.
1. In single VGA card mode, it is recommended to install a PCI Express
x16 graphics card on PCIE2 slot.
2. In CrossFireXTM mode or SLITM mode, please install PCI Express x16
graphics cards on PCIE2 and PCIE4 slots. Therefore, both these two
slots will work at x8 bandwidth.
3. In 3-Way CrossFireXTM mode, please install PCI Express x16
graphics cards on PCIE2, PCIE4 and PCIE5 slots. Therefore, PCIE2
and PCIE4 slots will work at x8 bandwidth while PCIE5 slot will work
at x4 bandwidth.
4. Please connect a chassis fan to motherboard chassis fan connector
(CHA_FAN1, CHA_FAN2 or CHA_FAN3) when using multiple
graphics cards for better thermal environment.
5. To run the PCI Express in Gen 3 speed, please must install the Ivy
Bridge CPU which supports PCI Express Gen3. If you install the
Sandy Bridge CPU, the PCI Express will run only at PCI Express Gen
2 speed

It only states PCI-E 4 is x 8 when PCI-E 2 is in use, could be worth trying it you never know ;)
