Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

Great, thanks. I've found the the ASRockAXTU utility is quite tricky to work with. I'm not sure what the target levels/temp settings are for the fans, but whatever I set them at, they're always forgotten after a reboot. Does the utility have to be running all the time? Also will the utility override the fan settings in the BIOS?

The ASUS CPU fan control software was perfect. Like MSI Afterburner for GPUs, you could set the curve for different speeds at different temps manually; AXTU seems quite the opposite.

Just build my first ever rig with one of these. First boot, no problem. All up and running with a 2500k and Antec Khuler 620. I've used the auto profile for 4.6ghz and it's running solid at 60 degrees C.

However CPU-Z reports 1.36v to the CPU which, from reading through most of this thread, seems a bit high. Would I be remiss to try and reduce the vcore manually to lower temps (and power consumption), or should I just leave it?

You can still use the Auto OC profiles - just manually set the voltage ;)

you sure your looking in the right place mate?
When I set Auto OC profile I can still scroll down to where all the voltage settings are and set them manually.

Auto OC profile only sets the multiplier really....

Yeah, I'm blind - ignore me.

On another matter, this mobo will not recognise my webcam. It's a logitech and normally it would be ready to use a few seconds after plugging it in - no software download required. Now it's only on the device manager as an unrecognised device.

I've tried downloading and installing Logitech software, and I've tried it on 3.0 and 2.0 ports. I've also tried the cam on my laptop and it works fine.

Any thoughts?

No problems to speak of. No bluescreens. The SATA cables were pretty tricky to get in (once the motherboard was installed in my R3) but I can't really think of any real complaints!

thats good, its been dispatched now, sorry to be a pain but can i ask,

1. any bios upgrades need doing?
2. which SATA port do i use for the SSD (as there seems to be a few different coloured ones, 3. Any other info i need to know? (drivers ect...)

There's a firmware upgrade which will either fix or break your mouse in the UEFI (BIOS). I've upgraded and it works fine for me.

Use the SATA 0 port for the SSD. That's the bottom one, 3rd along from the left in this orientation http://www.asrock.com/mb/photo/Z68 Extreme4 Gen3(m).jpg.

I've got a Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler coming tomorrow :D, to finally replace the stock cooler. Just wondering what the lowest stable VCore people have managed to get at 4.6 on a 2500k? Or has everyone stuck to the Auto OC?
