Dont think i had enough volts for 4.5GHz so i just dropped my oc down to 4.4 and no more bsod.

Managed to sneak Super pi under 8secs @ 4.848GHz 1.384v ran Linx 20 times got bored running Prime 95 might do it later ;-)

No.

The difference is almost nothing.

UEFI shots taken from 4.8 GHz forgot to take em for 4.848GHZ, they're all the same apart from upping BCLK to 101

Just tried the exact same settings and cant get it to boot, i think i must just have a crap 2600k.

The auto overclocking tool wont even boot at 4.6 highest it wil boot is 4.4

Have you tried with HT on and off ? And what cooler are you using, are temps ok ?

Yeah turned off HT, using a Corsair H70. Like i said it wont even boot at 4.6 using the auto oc feature.

Running at 4.8GHz at all times is completely pointless and a huge waste of power, there's no downside to allowing the CPU to idle at 1.6GHz and more importantly he's disabled thermal throttling which isn't too smart since that's how the CPU protects itself from overheating.

If someone wants to keep their cpu running at whatever desired speed they like what is it to you? Its all down to personal preference reglardless of how much power is getting used.

He's trying to help and offers some pretty sound advice if you ask me. But, like you say, whatever the person wants to do.
