*** Zelda: Breath of the Wild ***

Just had a look at a few videos and I'm having fever-dream flashbacks to getting my N64 and Ocarina of Time. I'm getting on this wagon asap.

Where's the best place to get a Wii U and BotW copy for release day at a good price? Had a look at simply but no consoles.

I'm not even joking but unless you get a Wii U second hand. It be cheaper to get a Switch with BotW on release than new Wii U with Botw.

Fairly disguising behavior from Nintendo if they have only done a limited run of the game to force people to buy the Switch to play it.

SimplyGames is alright, even if their website is a bit naff. I've ordered many a game from them before with no issues.

I accept your challenge. Let's see...

£199.99 - WiiU with Mario Kart bundle from Smyths
£59.99 - Zelda: Breath of the Wild WiiU version from Game.co.uk (most expensive site)
Total: £259.98

£329.99 - Switch bundled with Breath of the Wild from Very
Total: £329.99

One could probably save a tenner from buying WiiU Zelda elsewhere. But there it is, brand new WiiU with Zelda and an added bonus of Mario Kart 8, roughly £70 cheaper than buying it on the Switch.

Speaking of which, Amazon haven't said much about my Breath of the Wild pre-order, besides that it will dispatch tomorrow to arrive by Friday. At least I can look forward to the weekend. Brush the dust off the WiiU and play some Zelda and all that.

Why would one buy the Wii U at this point though? Assuming you will sell once you finished, might as well get the Switch. Only way I would go the Wii U route is if I could get it super cheap second hand where you know you can then sell it at same price after you are done with it.

The wii u isn't even being made anymore. Why would you buy old defunct hardware over brand spanking new like the switch ? Regardless of saving a couple of quid it's a total waste of money buying into dead hardware unless there is something very nostalgic you want to play (for example, a ps2 for ace combat 4 +5)

Nice, So Smyths finally got stock, given they are trying to get rid of it because of the Switch release.

Still as others mentioned, no point wasting money £260 on a dead platform when its predecessor only cost £70 more.

Saw another 10/10 for this yesterday from a good site then tweeted that website asking if it was supposed to be live yet, and they promptly took it down with thanks

Thought it was weird as it was up on there fb page but not on the websites home screen or anything. Only complaints were a few hitchs performance wise if I remember correctly but not enough to sway the experiance

Apparently not.

Shame, I like the fact weapons can break but imagine I would get quite attached to certain ones especially if I've had a really tough battle or journey to find them in the first place, like in Skyrim or Oblivion.

Would have like to seen a system where the damage output is reduced when a weapon is damaged but you could repair it, if you don't then the chance of breaking goes up.

I'll be waiting for reviews, no early ones and I have a feeling this will be a weak entry... I'll probably get the switch, and give away my wii u if this gets classic status.

Edge supposedly gave it a 10/10 and they don't throw 10s around like some places.

The early previews have been incredibly positive.

There are no early ones because Nintendo has made sure there aren't. All the non review information that has come out is overwhelmingly positive. I can't think on one place that has put a negative spin on the game at all. Not even niggles really.
