Nothing, perhaps some racists will argue mild racism is fine as long as you don't go full gas chamber mode.

It's absurd trying to play down one by bringing up something else. It's lame, it's an argument of a 5 year old. It's the same as when you are a kid getting caught stealing a cookie and say "mum, Kevin stole a cookie too!"

Lost all respect for Antonio/Moyes and West Ham through the dealing of the whole situation. The fact the incident occured, the club should have suspended the player while under disciplinary investigation. The manager choosing to pick him the next bloody day to play a.premier league game, and now Antonios absurd racism arguement!

Je nes comprende Pas!!!

I took Antonio's words to be more a long the lines of, "there seems to be more outrage from people (probably non football people more so) about the cat than incidents of racism that have happened recently"

Rather than him trying to deflect.

Yeah, because animal abuse is 100% worse than calling someone a bad name.

The thing is Moyes shouldn't even have been put in a position where he is deciding if Zouma plays or not, it should have been taken out of his hands.

It's like any job, you might be a line manager have a guy in your team that is filling an important role for you, but then HR get on the blower and say "We've been made aware of a video involving Kurt, so he's been suspended on full pay pending investigation, you'll need to make other arrangements to fulfil his duties until further notice". Or if you became aware of it before hearing from HR, you would take it to senior management / HR to decide on the approach.

Fully understand where Antonio is coming from, if a fan racially abuses a player they tend to get arrested and a life time ban from the club, players on the other hand get a short ban and a slap on the wrist fine. Governing bodies in football have also repeatedly shown they care more about violating commercial deals than racism.

The other thing to remember is that racial abuse between players is often difficult to prove. The video of Zouma is cast iron, and he's owned up to it.

Not that I think race or racism has any place in this discussion, it's deflection.

Sorry but the disparity in punishment for racism between fans and players has absolutely nothing to do with this.

Racism shouldn’t even be mentioned in this issue.

Exactly. They are separate in their own rights. You cannot get away from the fact Zouma has intentionally went out of his way to hurt a living creature. Intent, even worse, for fun!

Laughable how he's comparing that tbh.

He was just deflecting from the issue imo. He was asked whether Zouma deserved a harsher punishment than a fine of two weeks wages and he's chose to focus on the "sack him" shouts and compared it to punishments for racism, ignoring the fact that whenever a player has been found guilty of racism, we've had the exact same "sack him" shouts.

The point you make re clubs and governing bodies is a fair one but it's not specific to racism. It doesn't matter what a player does, whether that be racism, sexual assault, domestic violence etc etc, if that player has a significant value then they'll typically end up standing by that player. As I said earlier in the thread, it's much easier for somebody on the outside to say x should be sacked than it is for the club involved to actually do because it's not our money. I'm sure a sizable amount of people that are calling for Zouma's head would be hesitant in sacking him if they were the ones that stood to lose a significant amount of their money on that decision. Unfortunately that's life and nobody wants to throw their own money away due to an incident they're not to blame for.

Dag and redbridge suspend Zoumas brother for recording the incident, West Ham play the offender in a match. Morales.
It's easy to do when the player has no financial value and little to no importance to them from a footballing point of view. Had this not been Zouma but instead been Winston Reid (or any player with no worth to West Ham), they'd have probably sacked him.

Nail on head. All about the money.
