I didn't think the WHU fans even booed him last night. Heard it was just the opposition fans.

true, but there were a bunch of "outraged" alleged West Ham fans giving it large on Talk SPort and other radio phone ins. There was even some old dear West Ham fan on LBC saying it was a disgrace that he played, yeah right love, I am sure you will be saying that next season when Barca / Bayenr etc start turning up for CL games at West Ham

Except that’s never going to happen lol

I didn't necessarily expect them to take those measures, but it didn't stop me hoping for them. It's a heart rather then a head reaction.

Either way, hope they absolutely tank now. To apparently serve up little to no punishment at all and even play him first game after the incident is pathetic. As you said it's probably the right thing to do from a PR perspective in the long term but it doesn't change how I feel about it.
I'm not sure it was the right thing to do, it was just the calculated decision West Ham took. It may backfire with more negative PR as a result of that decision.

I think West Ham were wrong to have played him yesterday but I have some sympathy for them. They've invested £30m in a player and through no fault of their own they're expected not to play that player, weakening their ability to get results and possibly further impacting the club's finances. Although CL qualification is unlikely, they're in the mix for it right now and the difference between qualifying for the CL or EL is worth £40-50m and the difference between qualifying for the EL or no European football is worth £20-30m. It's far easier for Joe public to say they should suspend him or sack him than it is for West Ham to actually do. And while some West Ham fans will be saying they should now, give it a few months and there will be no sympathy for West Ham from their own fans if and when performances tail off.

Genuine question here, as I don't know. Is there ever anything in footballers' contracts that stipulates whether money can be recuperated? I'm assuming for legal cases, there could be, but it's unlikely outside of that.

Chelsea sacked Adrian Mutu when he failed a drugs test and then went on to sue him for the majority the transfer fee they paid for him. I strongly suspect they received little to none of that money though.

West Ham may have legal grounds to sack Zouma but there's no guarantees that they would be successful in any legal case brought against him for their losses and even if they were, Zouma won't have £30m. He'd be declared bankrupt and West Ham would be lucky if they received 10% of what they were claiming for.

edit: re the Mutu case, I've just had a quick google and Chelsea brought action against him in 2004 and as of 2018, Mutu was still going through various appeals. There's no info on what's happened since but as above, I strongly suspect Chelsea won't have received much, if anything at all.

at the end of the season if West Ham are in the CL spots no one is goign to either remember or give 2 craps about any of this. All the faux outraged so called West Ham fans that have been saying he shouldn't have been played are just kidding themselves. Deep down they are glad he played and that they got the 3 points.

My personal view is West ham should have at least suspended him untill what ever investigation the RSPCA were / are going to do was complete.

You didn’t get everything right, I’m a West Ham fan and I don’t think Moyes should have played him, BUT I’m glad that we got three points.
Just because Zouma’s a **** it doesn’t follow that WHU should lose a game.
He kicked the cat, not West Ham.

Of course, I get that. It's a results driven business and the bottom line can ultimately be effected by decisions like this. Still doesn't stop me from wanting the club to step up and be counted though. That's just me though.

Good start. I hope people won't let this go, he's scum and deserves to face ruin.

West Ham footballer Kurt Zouma has had his two cats taken away from him by the RSPCA after footage emerged of him kicking one.

In a statement today the animal charity said: "The two cats are now in RSPCA care. Our priority is and has always been the wellbeing of these cats.

"They've been taken for a check-up at a vets and then will remain in our care while the investigation continues.

"We're grateful to everyone who expressed their concern for these cats. We were dealing with this issue before the video went viral online and are leading the investigation.

Shouldn't have played until the formal disciplinary process was completed, sends a bad message and they've lost one sponsor with another one looking at backing out. Incredibly tone deaf.
