A huge welcome one and all - bumper bonus week!!!
If you haven't done so already then why not check out the Folding@Home Setup Guide and the Quickie Guide for more foldy-tastic tips especially for when you're in a rush

Still missing quite a lot of power-borged output due to the school holidays but still holding our own with all but the Mac crowd. However with it cooling off a bit hopefully a few people have got machines back on and clocks back up.
Sorry anyone who's not been mentioned - you know what to do now

***Only got one machine crunching? - Have a looky here***

hehe I hadn't noticed the Tiffy-Kat/Cat, have made them both Kat now cos I like chocolate and wafer combinations :D

Also removed the scary Anne Robinson-ness, I though Pumpkinstew said he'd had enough after the first WU - obviously my sense of humour was in my other jacket that day :p

edit: congrats on the monster tiffy froggy - looks like I'll have to get another rig if I'm gonna have a chance of catching you ever!

Damn you Rich, your well structured and timely news is trying to convince me to put my hand in my wallet and flex the credit card (again!) in search of more ppd for team10! Aaarrgghh, if only my poor little folding rigs could stave off Dunc and Vent...

ahhh damnit - you've seen through my fiendish plan to have the news on a Thursday night so that all Friday you're thinking about needing to enhance your WU-penis before going to the pub for lunch and coming back to switfly order some new kit whilst nobody is looking :p :D

I must admit the temptation for a second X2 rig is building, would only need a board and the CPU as the rest is in an old XP1700 rig currently :o

I'll use my special blatant sarcasm italics in the future:rolleyes:

:p ;)

It's hardly worth having that heap crunch anymore anyway. A token gesture at best tbh. (Just wanted to be namechecked in the newsletter. I'm a media **** deep down :o )

I have a 2.66 Celeron waiting in the wings as a replacement as soon as I get some RAM. I put a begging letter in the spare parts sticky but no offers yet *cough*hint*cough*

Fold on team.

Thanks for the news rich. Nice to see so many new members. We are on the up again.

Good news from me, i'm going to be adding an x2 3800+ shortly and i have an xp 2200+ here which i shall borg.
Going to put the 3200 from the main pc in the media centre and upgrade the main pc to an x2 3800+, mildly overclocked of course.
Still waiting for my opty to return, it seems my bracket attached to my faulty board was sent back to asus and the retailer is currently trying to get hold of it.

A quick question... does upgrading to a dual core cpu require a windows reinstall?

Congrats froggy a huge number, still waiting for my 10k tiffy-kat…

A great week for me and back to the top of the single core league, not sure I can do this well consistently though as it did involve a few 364 pointers. A much better week for you too Stormrider, but with the gap as small as it is at the moment I think I should issue some parpage (this will now curse me to get nothing but 7XX WU's from here on in :D ).

Yet again great stats Rich thanks! Always great to see so many new members. Fold on team.

Joe: I think that switching from single to dual core doesn't need a windows re-install, just a re-boot or two.

In most cases, no. Often Windows will just detect the change and ask you to reboot. Sometimes it will need you to change the type of computer in Device Manager to a multiprocessor PC (easier to explain if it comes to it!) Other times it just won't play nice and you'll have to reinstall.

If it doesn't play nice will it still work fine and treat is as a single core until i get round to doing a reinstall?

And another somewhat random quick question...
Can i connect a dvi-i cable to a dvi-d connector?

Thanks for the news, Rich :).

W00t ... a load of new folders! Welcome to the team everyone.

The ongoing saga of my PCs continues - main rig is down again. I can't be bothered to fight with it anymore, so I'm getting a new mobo. Production sucks with only a XP 2500 :(
