I think they would know that. I'm thinking Makee is needing to hope Chief goes to get her as he can activate the artefact etc, so she needs him. Still not sold that what we are shown is actual Cortana.
Also when Cortana is answering Ackerson, not sure if she was telling him the Reach falling is inevitable, as he already knew that, or was she telling him John surviving is the only outcome.
That could explain why Silver team got stood down, Master Chief had to survive.

It would be much easier if people realised this was a story set in the Halo Universe and not a direct game to TV adaptation. I have never played Halo and have zero interest in the game, but am enjoying the show.

IF thats what it is I think its more a warning to him that theirs nothing he can do, John will always survive etc. He didn't want Silver team finding out for sure what Chief was saying was true as they would have told everyone.

It doesn't need to follow the games directly but there still needs to at least have a "baseline" for the millions of people who have actually played the games.

The best example i can think of is the X-Men 2000 movie. The Magneto-Professor-X dynamic, the Cyclops-Wolverine-Jean-Grey love triangle being the two best examples.
There were loads of fans of the original comics that weren't happy with the "basic baseline" but as someone who did love the comics, i understood why they only went "so far".

But i'll be honest, i only watched the final episode of Halo season 1, which include a recap of the whole season, then started watching season 2 after some advice from my friend to avoid season 1.
We played every Halo game when they came out, over the years and then co-op, when the Master Chief collection was released. He literally told me not to bother with season 1 at all. A travesty.
Hearing that season 2 was essentially a soft reboot, made the decision a lot easier to avoid basically all of season 1.

I am enjoying season 2 right now, will i eventually bite the bullet and watch the universally derided season 1? Not sure tbh.

The show runners where all replaced, it wasn't a reboot more a soft reboot, due to how bad the first season was.
That is not exactly uncommon, doesn't mean it's a reboot, soft or otherwise. Storylines have continued over from season 1 and the only thing that has changed has been Cortana's actress.

It is...it is though, as they are usually the ones that negotiated to use the IP etc.

I kind of get what you are saying with "soft" reboot but it still builds on season 1 and carries on many story lines.

This just sounds like you backpeddling to try and explain the reboot comment that doesn't make sense. It was announced well before the first episode even aired that the showrunners would change (there were two of them originally) They also weren't the ones to negotiated using the IP either, it had been in development for years before that.

A soft reboot is usually something like say the new x-men animated series where they're keeping the old continuity or the new star wars films/scream/ghostbuster films where they've created new characters but kept the existing continuity. I've never heard a change of showrunners described as a soft reboot before.

Nah, just going by everything the new show runner has said. WIthout know what the original runners had written Im guessing we cant know how much it changed.
Though we know they removed all the stupid romance stuff out, replaced the Art Director etc, hence we get a better "halo" look, the end fighting scene go and look at it on the end of season, that was god awful. SO seems show directors have a better grip on action sequences and longer one shot takes. Plus the placed them on Reach.

If this weeks episode is showing what's to come they might actually turn it around. Wonder how long it'll be before they get their armour back.

Was thinking the same thing, loved the long sequences with the clever camera work to make it look like its all in one take. The plaza looked like something out of Callisto Protocol. One small gripe is cliche where some of them dont pick up all the best weapons available and opt for grenade or a pistol.

I havent played Halo before and dont know anything about the lore or storyline but doesnt the Spartan have their own specialise weapons or do they just use what every other solider has? Thought being a super soldier they have their own enhance weapons to match their enhance physiology and armour etc.

They don't have special weapons in the games, although they can use some weapons that regular marines can only use from mounted points or on vehicles. I think there are a couple of weapons that have Spartan specific versions.

Them using pistols is probably a specific nod to the game because the pistol is pretty much the best weapon in the first halo and remains very good throughout.

Really enjoying the entire show tbh, season 2 is great sci-fi TV, every episode has moved on the story dropped in some background. The action is not dumb either at least for the normal humies.

Halsey is so well played, One minute she is the arch enemy the next you want her to live and the only thing that's going to save the day.
