More PS3's sold than the 360 in Europe

Theres a guy on here that bought a PS3, absolutely flamed it until his 360 died and ended up buying another PS3, funnily enough he dosent flame about it anymore :p

Indeed, Also the Self proclaimed Neutral Parties that ooze obvious Bias, They're a new breed.
 
One main point about next gen is software development costs. Surely there has to come a point where dev cost/effort vs profit will turn to the negative as the current trend of software becomes simply too complex to develop for mass market distribution. We've seen how hard it has been for developers with this gens consoles, surely next gen will be twice as hard? And if not next gen then surely the one after.

Either way, there has to come a point where the current trend becomes unfeasible to continue and alternatives routes become the way to go. We've seen a small example of this with the Wii - it's on a tangent to the current 'bigger, faster, harder' approach of the other platforms.
 
But with much better hardware you can still makes things look very good with lazy/short development. E.G. the effort to get a game looking like FFXII on the 360 is negligible. If M$ (lolz the wit) release a new console early then developers could make games look better than the PS3 with very little effort.
 
You also have to factor in the extra sales console games are geting nowadays. I dont have any figures but surely it has increased a fair bit in the last few years?

Not really, I was just having a 'what if' rant tbh. :D;):p

However to clarify:

1)I did not mean to infer a £100 BR 360 but rather a £100 360 i.e. arcade + a BR 360 in the line up. However, in terms of buying out the market, MS could indeed to a £100 BR 360 if they so wished to. High cost but potentially higher reward.
2)Upgrading the 360 is not such a difficult task. It’s not the same jump which was seen from the last gen.
3)By 2010 the 360 will be 5 years old, which is a long time for a single piece of gaming hardware to be out when in a competetive market (PS2 was not in a competetive market tbh). Developers are developing for the PC graphics so why not advance the consoles.
4)Thus the PS3 is a fair way behind in the next gen console life cycle.
5)I deliberately avoided mentioning the PS2 since, as far as I can tell it still sells so well as it acts as a uber cheap (especially in other regions $80) primary gaming platform for kids and younger gamers / family gamers. A huge market and one reason the Wii has done so well, its fun for all the family and every Wii game is targeted as such.
6)The PS3 is only as good as the market it sits in. I still stand by the fact, that MS will have a new xbox out before the PS3 exceeds sales of the 360.

It was to do with legal reasons etc.. We have a pretty strict legal system for movie downloads and there was a reason for MS waiting.

They hold back every console, every major release, all updates on the PSN (sometimes up to 6 months) and then charge us more for waiting.

MS release all their stuff on the Marketplace worldwide for the most part, if not, within a fortnight (ala Bourne Conspiracy demo).
 
Recent example was the free GH3 track pack for St Patricks Day, was released on the day for 360 and US PSN, but for some reason came out several weeks later on the UK PSN. Theres just no reason for it, seems like they're being ***** just for the sake of it sometimes :(
 
i do find that stat hard to believe, as a lot of people i know have at least 1 xbox and a growing number now are getting / have a ps3 but i can't see how they have more units out tbh.

stats can be twisted to suit and this will be a fine example of it im sure.

either way i dont care, i just dont find it likely
 
Europe is a big ass place. Britain isn't.

Britain does awesome with Xbox360 and PS3 sales, but the rest of Europe really do seem to target PS3's. I don't know many Europeans, but those I do all have a PS3 and no Xbox360.

Do you not think that if the stats were wrong Microsoft would have a counter press release by now? Add to the fact all these sales figures are available for anyone to purchase/subscribe to through various organizations if they really question them. Like I said earlier, the ps3 has been outselling the 360 week on week in EU for ages, it was only a matter of time till it overtook the 360 based on that alone (360 sells well in Uk but not in rest of Europe, by all accounts).

the problem on OcUK is people have a hard time believing things that do not match their personal experience. I don't know a single person who owns 2 of a console (ps3 or 360). Even though you know a "lot" of people with more than 1 360 do you think this is reflective of the general buying population?

If GTA4 on Live is any indication, I've only heard 3-4 continental Europeans on it.

One or two French, one Spanish and one German.

Everyone else seems to be either American or British, but this is my limited experience with Live as I've only been using it really since GTA4 came out (and loving it!)

So yeah, I for one can see how unpopular the 360 is in Europe.

its interesting somebody pointed out that the sales threads have vanished. what are the overall figures these day? its a shame the 360's turned out to be so unreliable. not for sony though, that was probably one of the major factors in securing the ps3's userbase in the beginning. still, this generation has been filled with disappointments from all sides whether its hardware problems, ignoring certain sectors of the market or ripping off the customers.

ill say hand on heart, gaming on the ps3 is probably as good as its likely to be and i dont think it'll match the 360 for the quality of titles. it could have been so much more with a bit more welly in the graphics department. I dont think the 360 issues will go away now, its been too long. i reckon they'll stay unreliable until the new console is released as MS have shown no intention of fixing things. Nintendo? well, they are going to rull the world whether we like it or not lol. lets just hope the next wii is a big step up in graphics. that control system is out of this world but imagine RE4 using something like the GEARS engine or stalkers x-ray engine....you know it makes sense. nintendo annoy me because the console could have been even better. a lot better and still making them a profit.

i can easily believe that. the 360 isnt all that popular in mainland europe. the germans are ps3 mad and theres a hell of a lot of them
