Nail, head, hit....Sony really do have a massive following, the next generation truly didnt arrive until the PS3 came out for a lot of people.

There's a reason why almost any "TV Game" is refered to as a Playstation by almost anyone who's not a gamer. Sony re invented the genre with the original PS in a way that hadn't been seen since the Atari of the early 80's.
The fact that in 2 generations the 360 has even come close speaks volumes for how much effort MS has put into the Xbox. Especially when you consider how easily (relatively) Sony crushed the likes of Sega. Nintendo have survived and completely wrong footed Sony by being innovative and aiming at a market segment that isn't Sonys core area and have suprised a lot of people with their success. Xbox and Playstation continue to go head to head, and no matter what you say, Sony has built up a huge amount of good will and loyalty in the area. There's a whole generation of gamers that have owned nothing but a playstation, to persuade them to change to something like an Xbox, especially when the consoles are closely matched in capabilities is a herculean task.
I suspect the real knock down fight will be with the next gen. MS have got close enough to get a smell of success and will have built up their own brand loyalty. Sony will be keen to shake off the accusations of losing the plot they got with PS3 and prove they are in a different league from anyone else.
Whichever way you look at it, having this competition can only be to the benefit of us, the games players. A market with a single console would quickly stagnate and reduce to cheapset/lowest common denominator technology.
Hurrah for making the multi billion dollar buggers have to go an extra mile to keep us happy!
Yeah true, though won't be too big a difference but some, gotta be at least 9 million knocking around in Europe though.
I'm sure we will.
As an example... According to the stats' I've purchased 5 360's.... Except I only have one.... Why because in America when you have faulty goods, you go back to the store they give you a refund and then you go grab another off the shelf.. Seeing that the USA has sold 10mil, one can only suspect that a good portion of those 10mil are replacements off the shelf for the faulty 360's.
buy all the consoles and then you can have an opinion
That's right... You need to own the consoles to have an opinion on how well they are selling
You can own all 3 consoles and still be a raging flamboyant fangirl anyway.
Sony gave Europe the finger multiple times with the PS3 launch and 2007, but people blindly follow them.
This thread is all a moot point really.
MS are much further ahead in the product life cycle and we will see the Xbox4 demoed at a guess in 12-18 months. Sony may be out selling them in the EU now but what happens if MS do the BluRay equipped 360? Sony loose their edge and key selling point.
For this Xmas, another round of price drops seeing the 360 after 3 years of release closer to £100 and a BR model could easily wipe any sales advantage Sony have gathered over the last few months. If MS have the mind they could buy out the market from under Sony with massive price drops on hardware. Since the 360 online and gaming experience is so great Sony would have no defence really, although the PS3 is a great console the economic instability and credit crunch could make sales of luxuries much more price sensitive.
Going off how far ahead of the consoles the PC has jumped again, I can see Sony being left far behind in the console sales in a couple of years unless they are pushing for a PS4 for 2010 as well.
At the end of the day, 3 years into the Next Gen consoles, the 360 has still outsold the PS3 in total volume. I doubt Sony will catch up before we see the new Xbox.
I agree, you were a fangirl when you owned all 3 and are still one now you only own 2

And Microsoft sold you a defective product by design and you bought it and supported it. How many of your friend's Xbox's have died?
WTF is wrong with some people?
Some people might only buy it as a blu ray player.
