I was on a Simplicity rolling contract, and you are able to cancel at any time you want. If you take your phone number with you, your contract ends when the PAC code goes through on the other carrier. In terms of what you pay, I believe that if you cancel before the end of a month, they simply charge you for what you used (i.e. a fraction of the usual bill depending on the number of days you are into the month) - but I'm not 100% sure about this so best to check when you call up.

Any of you guys with the Desire already, live in Bristol at all? (City centre/UWE areas?) I wanna know if the 3G signal with the phone is good there.... since I'm currently at home in Swindon for Easter and can't exactly check :/

Do you mean on T-Mobile? If so you can use the coverage maps on the website to check.
Feel like a bit of a mug, sat there for a few minutes wondering why the mini-usb charger wasn't going in properly and actually tried to push it in quite hard a few times thinking it had to snap in. Hope I haven't snapped anything inside 
. Still giving me some sort of OCD that it's sitting out that much.

Not got a Desire yet but the mini-usb is exactly the same on my Xperia X1. It sticks out a couple of mm and is slightly loose although doesn't fall out. It still charges alright, I thought it was just the design of mini-usb.

The device can do 720p but HTC didnt have time to implement it before release, expect 720p @ 30fps recording in the not too distant future via a ROM update.

bah! just got drenched walking to my local CPW (golders green) to buy a desire (after reading the post from someone saying all their local cpw had them in stock) only to be told that they weren't launching until tomorrow and that they wouldn't have stock in until next week...
can anyone confirm as to whether any cpw stores in and around central london have them as i may be tempted to go and get one early in the morning...

Walked into CPW at lunch today and asked if they had any. The guys response made me smile - 'Never heard of it mate'! I lol'd, smiled, said thanks and laughed my way out of the door!
How is it possible for someone to wotk in a large phone store not to have heard of the HTC Desire!
Rang t-mob and ordered instead. No stock though but told I will have mine Tues at very latest... fingers crossed before that!

Heh I did the same thing and got the same response. Then I said do you know if any other stores have any in stock as I heard the CPW in Glasgow had them in today (I read if in this thread). He checked the computer and had 1 in stock there - that he never even knew had come in! Never knew much about plans though so is holding it for me to go back tomorrow, it was lush!
Oh yeah, what is a good deal then? So I can take something back to him tomorrow?

got it from cpw today, got told they got the stock in today and would be offially launching tomorrow so I was the first to get it from there
the guy bought 1 out the back to show me before I bought it, I should have asked for a sealed one but walked out with the one he showed me. should I go back and get a sealed one or is it too late now(just been playing with it and logged into android market, set up the contacts from the sim etc)? the camera has fingerprints(I'm sure I didn't touch it).
in the top lef hand corner there's a triangle symbol with an ! in it, anyone know what that means?
how do you change the weather default? it seems to have set to burghfield, I'm sure it said reading(my city) initially.

went 24 months @ £15 per month and the phone for £129.
300 min/txt & 3Gb internet and booster - free t-mob calls so i wont lose credit calling the missus.
works out £5 cheaper than my current contract over the month by about fiver - £20.37.

I would only buy a sealed one TBH, unless you had some type of discount.

Touch it and drag down and it should say what it is, probably a notification for Wi-Fi or similar.

You can change it if you go into the menu/settings. However, if you swipe upwards or downwards, it changes to any of the 5 preset cities
