*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Heres a slightly odd question...
Is there a setting on android phones to automatically delete text messages from selected senders after a set time period.
I get about 3/4/5 messages each day from work and it would be nice to be able to have these automatically deleted at the end of each day
maybe I should just stop being lazy and delete them myself

i read somewhere on the net that sim free desire has speech to text but branded ones dont

can anyone confirm or deny this ????

Well I can't speak for the branded ones but I have a simfree and it has option for text to speech, but I've not played with it yet. Only got the phone yesterday.

I've figured out the issue with the screen blanking when I ring anyone, the case I'm using covers the sensor making it think the phone is on the ear. looks like I need a new case

Is anyone else having any build issues? When I gently push down on the back around the battery cover seal on one paticular bit has some play and squeeks! Also I've already got a bit of dust behind the Camera protector lukily it's at the side and not over the lens

Ah, right. Just looked at their site and it's changed in the last couple of days.

Is the above an upgrade or new contract, and how does it measure up with the online e-tailers ?? I'd like to keep the number I've had for years.

That's upgrade and is pretty decent against online places, given that most companies are still rolling with Orange's old plans. I want to stay with Orange as I have six magic numbers and the loyalty discount already saved up.

I gave mine a hard workout today, 5hours of listening to audiobook(mp3 format) of vampire diaries(1st book. got through 10chapters, got 3/4 left) + a little surfing the net and downloading couple of apps from android market(also did talk on it bit as well). went from full charge to 14% in like 10hrs.

today was an extreme case, normally it's about 1hour of audiobook(I've got into a habbit of listening at work during the lunch hour, only work 3 days a week. on the odd occassion have been listening at home before going to bed as well 1-2hours), some surfing/emails + some phonecall/s.

its available to preorder on vodafone - does anyone know how stringent they are on data as they're only offering 500mb, and i use spotify premium, so my data usage can be massive.

when i was speaking to one of the guys in the vodafone shop, he said that they charge £10 per gigabyte of data used over the 500mb limit. i don't know extactly how strict they are about it though.

Apparently O2 are brining forward the release date, I will call tomorrow and let you know.

Went into T-Mobile High Wycombe yesterday, chaps were playing football as it was near closing lol :p

Guy let me go behind counter and look at the screen he brought up, said phone would be delayed in store until 9th due to technical issues.

Good to hear.

I'm currently at 1day 4hrs unplugged - 17hrs awake, with regular use (browsing, updating weather / friends stream) and there is still 20% or so battery left :)

Why don't you sync the tracks you want to avoid a massive data bill? According to the Spotify website you can sync 3,333 songs, which will far outlast the battery!

I'm not quite sure if I trust the Sense UI when it tells you how long it's been since last charge. As when mine needed charging earlier it said last charged 4 Hours ago but I had been up with it since 6am this morning

The 500MB limit is a fair use limit, rather than a specified hard limit (e.g. orange don't call their 500mb internet packs unlimited and so charge for every KB over). Therefore, you shouldn't end up with a massive bill but obviously going way over might **** vodafone off.

Vodafone - unlimited with 500MB fair use or 250MB fair use (depending on whether its on contract or monthly rolling)
Orange - 500MB limited package or unlimited with 1GB fair use
T-Mobile - unlimited with 1GB or 3GB fair use (depending on whether its for the whole contract or monthly rolling)

I don't know about O2.

They all also seem to have different rules for iphones.

edit:

This seems to suggest a hard limit
