Bands you wish were better known

Pull the other one they were massive in their day! Now this lot from the same era deserved a much bigger following, this is one of my favourite songs of all time and I can't believe they were dropped before their finished album was released!

Who on earth are you speaking too? Anyone who was even vaguely aware of music in the late 90's will know who they are they had two massive ablums and half a dozen big singles, they were bigged up by Oasis fo years!

I know there still around but like a lot of the old brit pop bands that are still going (Shed Seven, The Bluetones) their best days are clearly behind them. Try as they might Ocean Colour Scene will never record an album that matches Moseley Shoals again, it's not just about music it's about timing.
 
@Alex: That's my point, they should know that but to tons of people the only bands that spring to mind when you say 'late 90's' are Oasis and Blur.

I rather enjoyed Saturday to be honest, hesitant even to call Moseley Shoals their best album.
 
I've listened to a Danish band called Mew for a good many years but nobody seems to have heard of them. I think they're quite big in their native country and around Europe and have definitely played in the UK, but I think they fit in with the trend of this thread :)

Point taken I just struggle with the idea that a band with their massive level of commercial success needs to be better known. Just shows how differnt groups of people see things, I can pretty much guarentee that anyone I've been friends with in the last ten years had a copy of Moseley Shoals in the rack.

OCS just recent re-released a deluxe, 15th anniversary edition of Mosley Shoals - that's the sign of a well known band, in my eyes.

I'm a MASSIVE OCS and have been since Britpop #1 in 1995/6 - I bought Moseley Shoals and Everything Must Go by the Manics on the same day. WHAT a day that was! I saw them a year ago touring the Saturday album and they were on fine form - you'll struggle to find such a class live band anywhere...

Anyway these days I guess the mighty 'Scene would qualify for this thread inasmuch as whenever I mention them and their latest album people exclaim surprise that they "didn't realise that they were still going" :( They've done some cracking stuff since Moseley Shoals/100 Mile High City (the big time days) but for consistency nothing will ever match Moseley Shoals.
 
Posted about em many times before and tbh, given they are still fledgling I suspect they are going to make it big anyway, but still.

A band I have been following around Manchester called The Virginmarys, they're currently supporting Skunk Anansie on a European tour, but I hope they'll be back to good ol' Manchester soon :)

And an opener from one of their live gigs (actually attended this one), they were a bit slow to start tbh, but they kick it up a gear as the song moves on and the rest of their set was electric:
