That midfield doesn't fill me with much confidence. Wilshere good but still young. Ramsey, potential if he recovers to his old form but with such a bad injury that is never a sure thing.
Diaby and Denilson I hope someone comes and gets them.
Personally I would like to move away from this little skillful midfielders were seem to be breeding lately and get some big lads in there like we had with Petit and Veira.
I thought Diaby was going to be the perfect replacement but he just does not perform consistently enough

Absolutely. I think Ramsey showed some glimpses in the last few games of what we've been missing for the past year. Hopefully the pre-season will be quite tough, get him even fitter than before and raring to go, I think we sorely missed him developing with us last season, especially with Fabregas injured or out of form for much of the campaign.
Diaby is wildly inconsistent, I think he has the natural talent, there's just something lacking with the boy, he doesn't concentrate enough and looking at his vacant gawping face just makes me want to rage sometimes. We've said it so many times on here that he runs past two or three midfielders with some amazing skill and then just runs into a flat footed defender, the guy needs a bloody good kick up the arse.
Denilson is just beyond hope, the guy is mouthing off in the media about wanting to move and win things which is fair enough if he puts in 100% every game he plays but he doesn't. He walks around the pitch, passing sideways or backwards or taking wild 30 yard shots because he scored one once... The guy is a complete dick and we should sell him to some Turkish side.

Rumour is Wenger turned down a £10,000,000 bid for Diaby. I can't even get that much for him on Football Manager.

I think it happened a few seasons ago. Unless someone else also offered then the world truly is messed up

Haha, that's more likely what happened.
I actually think it was some Turkish club but I can't remember tbh. Read it a few days ago on a blog, there was a link to the news article, I'll try and find it.
Doesn't Verm play at LB too? I can see us getting in two CBs and moving him to LB. I think that would sure up our defence.
With goalies we have lots of potential but no one has stepped up and claimed the spot for themselves. Each of them has had a good run and a bad run of games in goal. Even Mannone looked good but is the youngest of the three.
If we have £70m to spend I would be pleased if they just brought in 6 twelve million pound players. Maybe one or two pushing £15m. Can't see Wenger spending more than that on a player with his history.
In reality I can see us going into the season with three new signings and losing four or five players
And to make it worse keeping players like Diaby and Denilson.
I think that if Wenger does bring in another centre back we will see Koscielney playing left back a lot more which would not be the worst thing in the world. He is certainly a lot more solidly defensively than Clichy ever was and doesn't appear to be made from glass like Gibbs. The first bit would allow Arshavin/Vela/Left sided player to roam a bit more. Clichy went missing a fair few times last season and since Arshavin doesn't go behind the half way line we let in several goals down the left.
Samba/Vertonghen/Gervinho/Hazard please and at a stretch Baines in an ideal world.
I see Jenkinson as Eboues replacement and long term Sanga replacement. He is a fair bit taller than either of them and should be a bit stronger defensively.

Well it cropped up on Gunnerblog, which I don't read, so I must have stumbled upon it elsewhere but I couldn't find any reputable links or quotes from anyone so the likelihood is that it's made up. It was apparently a £10 million bid from an unnamed Turkish club.
Verthongen would pair up well with Vermaelen I reckon, what with the Belgian link and the years spent in the Dutch league also he'd be a good buy, but we do have a lot of centre backs now. What with the first teamers listed above and the young guys like Miquel we have almost got too many.

I would have him there instead of Song and at a stretch CB cover. Verminator and him both played at Ajax in the same side.
Besides, as Jenkinson is more a RB methinks and if we get rid of Squillaci then we only have 3 CB plus Miquel.
I have forgotten about Ryodiniho as well. Want to see him tear it up this season.

Maybe it was becuase it was his first season, so we give him the benefit of the doubt, but he was bought for his experience and becuase he was a French international.
Last season he was terrible. Awful!

He knows what he's doing when buying attackers but defense and goalies... my god, the man is woefully bad. (Although I rate Szczesny)
He will get better with age.....

Carl Jenkinson is Arsenal's first summer signing and although he played in every position at the back, his favourite role is that of right back.
Speaking to Arsenal Player, the 19-year old started by showing his delight at joining the club he supports, confessing how words can't really described how he feels as the Gunners are renowned for being a great team, with a great history.
Asked about his favourite position, the youngster revealed that he played as centre back at youth level before being shifted to right back, which is ultimately his preferred position as it allows him to surge forward and help the offensive department.

Sounds like he'll be a good utility player if he can play as a holding midfielder and all across the back line. Not the type of player I'd have chosen as our first signing, but it's better than a kick in the nuts.
