********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

Called 3 and got my number ported over, so it should be a simple case of put in new sim and carry on, come Friday.

I expect everyone will get a dispatch email tomorrow, and this thread will explode :p

I don't have any new number from three to port, did you get one already?

I'm impatient, so I called from work today (half expecting them to refuse / hit a wall)

Turns out I didn't need my 3 number. Called them up and gave them my postcode and my name, from there they pulled up my recent order and then asked me for my PAC code and the number I want to keep.

Once I'd given them the PAC they said the port would be complete on 12/10/11 aka tomorrow, and even told me my 3 phone number, until my port is complete. Not that it matters, but I thought it was nice of him to mention it.

When I got home my sim was waiting thanks to Royal Mail, so all I need to do on friday is pop it in the iPhone and boom!

Give them a call :)

Ah right, I've got a pre-order with them for the 4S so maybe it won't be so easy for me. Will give them a call anyway.

I'm tempted to move to three, but a bit worried (and confused) about 2G coverage.

I've read that they partner with Orange where 3G coverage isn't available, but that they've been switching the coverage off in certain areas?

Is this true? And will I generally be able to get a signal when I'm outside of 3G coverage areas?

Thanks. :)

lolwut

Voice control on Android, is just that, voice control. Siri is a completely different ball game, you can't do half the stuff with bog standard voice control.

Ok and a few more commands, doe'snt alter the fact it's a gimmick, as MrMoonX said Sira was originally an app before Apple bought the parent company and guess what, no one used it.

Or perhaps like the majority of iPhone users hadn't heard of it... as I certainly hadn't.

I think Siri looks great.
In a car it will be amazing to be able to do so much handsfree.

Also just simple things like working out currency conversion or converting measurements, it will be quicker to ask Siri than selecting Safari, then typing it into google.

No one had a delivery update from pre ordering last Friday?

Nah - I preordered Friday and heard nothing...

I'm fairly sure you'll get a dispatched email on Thursday and get it delivered on Friday - I think this is what happened for the iPhone 4.

Defiantly. There's lots of similar apps around like Vlingo voice assistant (Samsung integrated this into touchwiz) and Nuance (ditto LG phones, Motorola have something similar too?) Actually didn't Nuance recently buy Swype?

They all do the same thing but Apples OS integration is more comprehensive.

Exactly that.
My iP4 arrived Friday morning at 8am, hopefully the iP4S will be the same.

I am in a minority, but I already use Voice Control loads.

If I have the baby in my arms it's so easy to just long press the home button and say "call the wife mobile" and wait to put her on speaker. The downfall is a text message, so having the ability to listen, reply and send a message via voice is a godsend.

I also use voice control when mowing the grass, as getting the phone in and out of your pocket is tiresome. I just hope they've improved the commands to include podcasts. It's infuriating not being able to play a podcast over the current system.

Not sure I'd use it for currency conversion, or casually in the street but having the phone in a cradle in the car would also be perfect for driving scenarios where it would be illegal and dangerous to try replying to a message / editing a calendar entry etc

i'm tempted by three as well as it looks so much cheaper than my vodafone deal and frankly i'm not sure the data performance can be any worse than vodafone currently is.

anyone in London have experience of data on three?

This is where I see myself using it the most. It'll be great to get a text read out to you and then easily just reply to it using your voice. :)

I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable walking down the street speaking to my phone :p

Data performance for me in Watford and work in Northwood has been brilliant, less said about Vodafone the better though. In central, same sort of story, though Vodafone is a little better than it is at home/work.

Cheers chris but im lazy :p

Ill scout the recycle sites :)

Sam

It takes about 2 minutes to list an ad, it's simple.

Especially if it integrates into a car audio system, that would be ultimate win.
