iPad Mini...

Is there no iOS software where you can transfer the videos over wifi to the app like with Android for taking out away from the house rather than streaming?

It makes perfect sense as I watch a lot of media on the move. I'm completely used to browsing the web in 16:9 as I do so on my desktop.

For your particular use, yes. But the primary usage of an iPad is web browsing and the aspect ratio is perfect. I hardly ever use my iPad in landscape, pretty much only when watching videos on youtube. But the whole black bar thing has never really bothered me too much.

After seeing those screenshots from Logsi, I simply couldn't go back to a screen that is non-retina. You can see the pixelation on the text very easily. Give me this form factor with a retina display and you have yourself a winner.

Probably see it in March the way Apple are bringing updates to the line at the minute.

Had a play with the mini and revised ipad 3 yesterday. The mini is a really well made piece of kit but the screen is just poor compared to the ipad 3, no way could I spend that much money on old screen tech. Its not just the res but colour, contrast and reflectiveness all seemed much worse as well. It was the same comparing the Air and normal MBP to the new MBP retinas, the air's screen just looked flat and lifeless like several generations behind.

Just been playing with a nexus 7 in work and yep it does feel pretty damn cheap compared to any of the apple products. The screen isn't great either, it's PPI isn't that much over the mini and being 16:9 it's fine for movies but not as good for anything else. Comparing a webpage on the nexus to ipad it's like about 200px of height has been lopped off.

Maybe when the mini retina comes out it'll be the most complete tablet so far.

Hi

I have been set on getting an ipad 4 this Christmas when I go away to the US , but now having seen the new ipad mini I have changed my mind and want the mini.

Im aware if you bought a US ipad (wifi) it will work in the UK with the correct plug adapter.

Will the ipad mini (wifi only) bought from the US be ok as well ?

thanks

Are you kidding mate?

You're looking at a screenshot and inferring something about the display? All that'll tell you is how good your monitor is :p

No amount of screenshots will tell you anything about the display.

If someone would be kind enough to take some photographs of the display, that will give us good idea of the display ;)

GFs mini for Xmas should arrive next week, can't wait to have a look. Seriously thinking of joining the bandwagon and swapping my "phat" iPad 3 for the mini if and when they release a Retina version next year.

I had a play and really like the mini, I only use my iPad for web browsing when I'm not using the MacBook Air 11" so I'm considering selling my iPad 2 for the mini as I'm ok with the performance of my iPad 2, just would be more convenient to carry.

As said above. You joking?
