*** New Design 2012 iMac 21.5" & 27" ***

Who's ordered one of these recently?

I ordered a top spec 27" (plus 1TB Fusion) on 18th Jan and it's not being delivered until 14th - 21st Feb according to the Order Status!

Is this realistic, or should I receive it earlier?

I was more asking what my chances were of getting it a week or so early rather than whether it would be late...I didn't even think of that :D
 
Can anyone point a lazy guy in the direction of the memory kit(s) I would need from Crucial to upgrade one to 32GB? I specced mine with 8GB because I refused to pay Apple £400 odd quid for 32GB. TIA.

It's here!

The differences?
  • It's virtually silent due to the SSD, and I'd imagine the mechanical versions will be quieter too due to the use of 2.5" drives rather than 3.5" ones.
  • The display is actually usable in anything other than complete darkness - it's weird looking at an iMac and not seeing a crystal clear reflection.
  • SSD. Fast.
Quite honestly, that's it. Aside from those, it's not really any different to the older models. That isn't to say that the display isn't a massive improvement, it's just that it is pretty much as you'd expect.

The only problem with mine was there was a small stone in the packaging, which has caused two minor scuffs about 0.3 cm across on the front (that can only be truly seen with ease when under a torch - direct sunlight is a possibility too). Doesn't really bother me, however it's ridiculous.

I kinda take back the scuffs actually. They're there but they're extremely difficult to see in normal light, and tiny. Doesn't bother me at all. Was really worried that the glass would be scratched however it is absolutely fine, thank goodness.

The only real gripe is that there is a tiny piece of dust between the glass and the display itself. Again, extremely difficult to see and not ideal, but not worth the effort of sending back (done that four times already...).

Overall, very happy.

You are unlikely to notice the difference unless you do a lot of photo or video editing.

But I maxed it out because I know the machine is now maxed out as much as I can,and I won't need to think about it or even have the itch to upgrade it, ever.
