Tabletop Warhammer?

Did another couple to join the sergeant, pretty fun to paint these are - but I think I need to clean up a bit (really scruffy style lol) - but kinda works with space wolves a bit, think I should change to orks!.

Looking good, elmarko. I really like the dark, gritty appearance, it's much closer to the style of the current Codex cover art than the classic 'Eavy Metal studio-painted Space Wolves. :)

Thanks :).

Use a mix of abbadon black & the new space wolves grey for most of the base - then keep adding a bit of space wolves grey as I work up 3 base tones - then do the 2 lighter tones associated with that base with dry-brushing.

If I recall correctly (to get the main base)

spray prime coat - Abbadon Black

All the bases go into the same little mixing slot.

First base - Abbadon black 2 part, kantor blue 1 part, the fang 1 part
Second base - add one part fang into the above mix.
Third base - add one part fang into the above mix.

First wash - Drakenhof Nightshade

First highlight - Rush grey
Second highlight - Fenrisian grey
Final highlight Drybrush -Ethernium blue

Final wash - Nuln oil.

On the metal stuff it's the standard - leadbeltcher base, nuln oil wash - then ironbreaker highlight with a final runefang steel highlight.

Still, got a load to learn - only just recently started painting them again a week ago - should be fun!.

Really love the glazes - it's a shame not all colour groups have them (all the reds have the bloodletter glaze - excellent product).

Interesting, mine was done with:

Black primer
Eshin Grey base
Nuln Oil wash
Re-do Eshin Grey on some areas
Eshin Grey/Codex Grey mix (about 2:3 at a guess)
Then added more codex grey in for the edges

Just finished Stripping and putting a base coat on this scary demon :)

Yeah it wasn't a bad issue actually.

Some concerns about Eldar:

Wraithknights can take 4 guns...monstrous creatures can only ever fire 2. This seems to be the biggest oversight ever.

Warlocks now have random powers, and have to pass a psychic test on LD8. It seems unclear whether you're allowed to roll for powers then stick them with units or the other way round. If you have to stick them in units first then they're utterly useless.

Banshees still have no way to get into combat, 5 pts GW. Hire someone competent.

Pathfinders can only be bought with a special character now :(

Guardians needed to be 18" range.

On the positive side Jetbikes look awesome, BS4 is excellent and the rest of the aspects got much needed boosts.

You generate your psychic powers before deploying any units, so as long as the format for taking them is the same as before (buy them as a block, then distribute them to units of your choosing, rather than buying them as a unit upgrade) you will know which Warlock has which power before deciding which unit to attach them to.

Does seem a little odd at first, but then they have separated the Spiritseer from Warlocks entirely, so I guess that's why. I'm just hoping that the Spiritseer's powers can buff Wraithguard a little, although having one in the unit is no longer necessary if Wraithsight is out.

Really looking forward to getting the new stuff now, although it probably won't be shipped in time to get it for the release date, so I'll probably have to wait until Wednesday at the earliest. :(

Well apparently it specifically says in the codex that you have to allocate them to units before rolling for powers....that is bull ****. That makes them utterly pointless.

Farseer: So what is your power speciality?

Warlock: I don't actually know.

If true, that sucks. Pretty much takes a lot of strategic planning away. I'd understand if this was Chaos Daemons or something, but psychic powers is what Eldar do. :/

In fairness there have been a lot of buffs, BS increase, wraithsight gone, each psychic power being 2, aspects being buffed. There has to be negatives as well. Really looking forward to getting the codex and restarting an Eldar force.

I could understand it if the way of change was the main adversity to the elder, but he is not.
The randomness of their powers could be a joke from beyond the eye, where powers grow and form, but not the elder. They don't do random.

Are the harlequins part of this rewrite or not?

Is it the same power as before (or roughly similar)?

Looking at the rumoured statline for the Avatar in this edition, I'm even more tempted to get the ForgeWorld one. :(

Had a game last night against some nurgle marines again. Got tabled which puts me at 2-2 so far. I need to make changes to the force but im going to leave it till the FW noise marines are out. Maybe playing with a poor list will force me to get better at tactics. Since my mate has gone and ordered a tau army I think this is a good time to start building a battle brother force. Probably some 3rd company ultramarines although there is a slight chance of eldar need to look into it more.

Similar (it's actually how it was in the codex before the last)

Eldrad is just a normal psyker now, has to roll for powers and can't cast them twice :(

Couple the Wraithknight's bad design for guns with the fact he has a sword that gives +1Strength....to a strength 10 model.

Nigel Tufnel: The stats all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most stats go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's stronger? Is it any stronger?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one stronger, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most monstrous creatures, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your sword. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One stronger.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten stronger and make ten be the top number and make that a little stronger?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.
