What tubs is everyone running?
My clicky finger is ready to hit buy on the Conti Competition's (25mm). But please let me know if anyone has better experience with other tyres or what your thoughts are :D
Ribble Conti Comp 25mm (nobody has them in stock!) - http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/ro...s-continental-competition-tubular/conttuba325
Higher end Continentals are good. Stay well away from their cheap ones like the Rally - even just for a spare - quality control is a massive issue with them.

I use Tufo S33 as a good all-rounder. Really tough, always really nice and round and grip is good.

should be good, I usually just have a small bowl of cereal then cook something proper to eat within the first hour getting home.

You absolutely can make a smoothie and it's possible for it to be great. The advantage the nutrition powder you linked to has is that it'll probably be pretty cheap per serving and a lot less hassle. Assuming your diet is reasonably nutritious elsewhere it's simply a case of balancing up the potentially nicer smoother with more hassle with the much simpler but almost certainly less tasty powder-based drink.

As FT says, smoothies are great and contain everything you need. I pop in a little bit of whey usually just to give it a bit more flavour (strawberry)

Ok thanks guys, I'll probably try the frozen fruit side first before going the wiggle/high5 route at some point to make comparisons (cost, taste, effectiveness)!

Miserable weather here for the commute home... Wet with some added wet. At least the winds don't look too strong, just gusty. Still practice for my 50 miler on saturday! ;)

Had fun on the way home from work. Came across the aftermath of 2 cyclists who had collided being tended to by someone else. Hung around to help out. Ended up walking them back to be picked up and realising one of the guys had concussion probably after he repeated himself about 5 times in 2 minutes. So got one of their bikes to a safe lock up a mile or so away and got the one with the concussion some warm clothing before he got a lift up to a and E. All whilst it was very much raining. So was freezing by the time I got home.

Nasty, but well done :) It's nice when people look out for each other, especially when they're strangers.

I went out to christen my new wheels - thanks everyone for recommending them - I can tell a pretty big difference, especially with regard to how seemingly effortless it is to get them rolling faster and climbing seems much ... different.

They also seem to have affected the handling of the bike; it seems a lot more lively.

Compare these two rides, well the same sections that are shared between them

The latter is today with new wheels. It was also windy (against me most of the way or from the side), and wet/rainy. And I did 5 miles of uphill after work and I was tired to begin with :(

I'm slower on some bits and faster on others.

Why can't the weather be consistent in this silly country?

Still, I think I did better, overall with the new round things :)

Also reported it to Sustrans as it is a National Cycle Network bike path. The one guy said he had an accident few years back broke his nose and counted 9 people walk past before anyone stopped.

Campag Khamsins from Merlin at £90ish.

at this rate everyone on this thread will have some

Sounds like a good deal James, although I can really rate the Khamsins. Mine have done nearly 900 miles and going strong! Guy at my work liked them and has now bought some Zonda's. I believe others here are running them and the Scirocco's which are around your budget but quite a big rim (also out of stock on Wiggle). Anyone tried the Vento's? Seem like one up on the Khamsin's?

Khamsins the way to go then?

I just ordered these for my bike... worrying! :o

180 miles for any tyre isn't right, so they should replace them without an issue.
I wouldn't worry, I've done 1k on mine and still doing grand on poor Yorkshire roads.

I'm gonna be ordering more soon, they're a lot faster and safer than the stock Giant ones I got with the bike.

Mine are all setup ready for tomorrow, after dragging it back home from Derby, that was pretty miserable.

But on the bright side of things:

Jerseys finally arrived and I will be putting my new pedals on the weekend and giving them a good test ride. Shoes aren't as "sporty" as I thought they may be, look very MTB considering they are... but they're comfy. Jerseys are really nice too (medium feels OK, but not rode with them to tell if they're too tight), need some decent bibs now to go with them as well.

Also,

Is anybody taking part in the Palace2Palace next month for Charity? My company is going mad about it and might be a good few of us, quite a casual ride but can get competitive. :D

If you're a member of some facebook cycling selling groups you'll see Adam Blythe flogging some brand new team kit. All size small though so no use for normal sized cyclists.

Here's my first ever proper group ride. Enjoyed it much more than my single outing on Saturday which was a shorter 14m ride.

Was worried about this distance at first, but somehow I managed to do it. I didn't have much left in the tank at the end of it though. And I was shattered when I got home at 9pm.

I think I need to invest in some properly good cycling kit - doesn't have to be most expensive, or look good.... but properly nice bib shorts with a pad that's oh-so-amazing and a great softshell (what IS a softshell, anyway?)

And maybe some lightweight but good arm/leg warmers, and some thin neoprene and thin properly waterproof overshoes.

What is there out there for cheap, on sale and in a med/large size (probably large)?

I have some Dhb tshirts things for MTBing and they're quite good.

Reason I ask is I have some bib shorts that I bought a while ago from somewhere uk based, make their own, sell online type thing - can't remember who they are though.
They've served me well, but they're looking a bit tired now.

I wore those and my altura night vision jacket - claimed to be breathable -wasn't. Sweated light a pig in it and may as well have not worn it, other than for the visibility.
