Kreeeeeeee - you have a chin mount don't you? You ever done a video on your chin mount and mic/audio set up? ;):D

I'd only go for a chin mounted gopro or lookalike, just not sure the best way to attach it. My helmet has space for a front adhesive pad.

I do need to make a video for that as you're far from the first person to ask about it.

It's raining tomorrow so it may just happen!
 
Just looking at my helmet and I reckon the normal curved gopro mount will fit right onto the front, so would only need one of these to chin mount to Xiaomi Yi.

Are the cheapo gopro mount copies decent or is it worth spending a few more quid on genuine mounts?

All the copies I have are loose to varying extents and 1 snapped off!

Go official for these in my opinion as the clip tolerances and durability are critical.
 
I got a load of cheap mounts with my SJ4000 & they're absolutely fine imho just had to bust out some sand paper to get rid of the shiny-ness between the joints as it increases grip when tightening them up and prevents them from moving.
 
What's the best video editing software? I want to blank out things like my street name and also crop the video. I'm using the Contour Roam2. :)

Just played back what i recorded on my way home tonight, wind noise is terrible, can hear a faint whistle too, also didn't think it would be as bad at night as what it is, can't see anything, looks like i'm riding with no lights on lol. :p
 
Yep the roam2 is terrible for both those issues. As far as audio goes, get yourself a cheap dictaphone, the Sony one on Amazon is really good, then just hoot as you set off which gives you a spike in the audio timeline to hook video to audio. For day to day riding I wouldn't bother with all that, but if you want some cool footage then definitely a dictaphone (the H2N is nice if you don't mind spending a bit)
 
Don't bother with a separate mic setup if you can avoid it. A mic in the helmet works very well and is far more convenient.
 
Get a dictaphone with a mic input or something. Splice the audio to the video. There's no reason the two have to be recorded by the same unit. Just do a clap 3 times or something at the start of your videos to sync them up.
 
I jsut got my Yi today. Will put it on my bike at the weekend. Hopefully there's some good weather. I'll show you all what 0-60 looks like on a 40 year old bike with a wobbly tach and speedo needles :p

:p i'll do a 0-60 on my duke 125, the video may be 40 minutes long. :p :D
 
Was 6 seconds I think. I need to get some video software and have a play with the footage tomorrow (it's rugby time at the pub now :D). I was able to film in 1080p 30fps for 1 hour twenty minutes. I'm not sure if that's good or bad it cut out before I got home though.

It also created a new file every 21 min 55 secs, rather than one big file.

I might look into a body/helmet mount rather than the handlebars
