You cannot compare that way, graphics cards are not the same as cars.
Otherwise a 980 would be about 1 million, because that is how good it is compared to a voodoo or 3DFX card.
If you say so, don't honestly see the point of having 4 of those, 4 titan x cards and 4 fury x cards. Paper weights soon enough!
I only have 2 Kingpins as they are air cooled cards.
I will see what is what on release and go with the cheapest EVGA/Giga/MSI but I don't mind paying £635 if I am honest. I don't have a pot to **** in though but hey, life is great

For Kaap it's all about having spent more than the rest of us. The cards themselves are almost not important. As long as he's spent more than we have - and has made sure everybody knows this - he's happy.

I am a genuine enthusiast who does not believe in selling on classic cards when something faster turns up.
I don't think I will be posting any info on what GTX 1080 purchases or any future GPU purchases I make because of posts like yours.

You are right GPUs are not like cars, you get far bigger performance increases for your money from graphics cards.
Somewhat ironic there's so much hype about the potential of a 2ghz overclock, and the only card available has a cooler that can't sustain it for more than 10 minutes without sounding like a hairdryer.
You can't deny you make a big deal about the amount of money you spend on hardware. I honestly think that alone is part of the appeal for you. The more you spend the happier you are

For example you can get a really nice fast car for relatively low % compared to a mondeo or something, and when you have it, it will still work in 5 years.
This launch has irritated me to be honest, I just hope that brands like zotac and palit etc. release some decent cards and bring this back down to something sane for a 300nm mid/high end card.

Hobbies often cost a lot! Bet I've spent more on sportscars in the past and depreciation than many have on computer parts

Won't get this even if it cost £100 less. I don't care if the cooler is using special cooling technology, uses exotic materials and has exceptional craftsmanship, it's still rubbish at cooling and always has been.
Will wait for the custom cooled MSI and Gigabyte cards and cross my fingers that it's not any more expensive than these (which is looking very unlikely).

That is your perception but it would be wrong.
Because of comments like yours I will go back to doing what I did long before I was on any forums. I was using high end systems solely for my own use and never shared the details with anyone, not even my friends, family or workmates.
I did think this was an enthusiasts forum but people like you have proved me wrong.
I'm finding the whole fiasco hilarious. If you think the price in extortionate then blame all the fanboys turned salesmen who tirelessly recommended the gimped 970 over the 390, etc and constantly defend Nvidia. Some are now hoping AMD brings some competition lol.
