*** Nintendo Switch ***

I can't comment on the 2nd but I know some of the guys here will be able to help. The 2nd was designed for home consoles so is probably structured in a better way.

Don't get me wrong, the first seems fine enough but the origins of its 3ds nature are apparent (to me atleast) ;)

Some suggestions based on what I've played

Steam world dig 2 is fantastic if a little short, still worth it for a solid 8-10hours of well crafted shenanigans. A joy to play imo.

Sonic Mania is a brilliant return to form if you have love for 1-3 from the megadrive era.

Yes got Sonic Mania, brilliant game. I've also got Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 and downloaded Fortnite to keep me occupied but I've heard Steam World Dig 2 is good so that may be the next purchase.

You are set for like 200+hours of gameplay then :)
I got 110 out of Zelda and I didn't even notice that time going by, fantastic game

I'm 65 hours in Zelda, probably 50% of the map visible. Don't want it to end :( I dip in for 30 mins here and there
I struggle to stick with it, just seem to go from shrine to shrine whilst trying to open out the map even more. Just feels repetitive for me hence why I'm looking for something else.

The first 20 hours are by far the best in BotW. Once it gets too easy and repetitive it loses a lot of its charm.

It's a great platform to make a new Zelda on though, with a much richer and full world, and even a tiny hint at a story would be great improvements.

Absolutely, I think it's a good base for the future aswell

Story isn't the Zelda's appeal tbh. What story (in the memories for example, and side quests) is quite well done in BoTW imo. Most of the story is implied rather than told, and the nods to previous games I guess you need to be a long time Zelda nerd to get... It's a great experience and the exploration is quite relaxing.

The shrine mechanic and lots and lots of walking are the weakest points in my humble opinion, too much of both. After you get access to ancient weapons/shields the guardians pose much less of a threat, but inventory management with regards to shield/sword durability... grr.

Maybe I'll hold off buying another game and give it another go.

I just need Nintendo to release A Link to the Past and I'll be 1 happy Switch owner.

The main story is never the focus, but many Zelda games had charming characters and interesting side plots. All of this is missing in this hollow world.

Does anyone know if there are any plans or rumours of something like Switch Pro with beefier hardware using 7nm stuff?

Even if they do not improve hardware performance if they went 7nm next year or year after there would be a huge benefit for how long the batter lasted at the least.

For the price and the size of the game - and that fact that it is bloody incredible - I'd pick Hollow Knight all day every day. Shovel Knight is a good shout also.
