Avengers: Infinity War (2018) - *** WARNING: SPOILERS ***

Yeah that's Requiem (ie., Gamorra) using the power gem fixed in the blade. He's not dead permanently since he is cursed with immortality. He's been dead many times, including killing himself to get out of a predicament. He recently killed his future self because he didn't want to end up being like he was etc.

To be fair it seems every comic book character seems immortal, they always find a way to come back no matter what.

Finally watched this last night......although loads of people died I assume most are coming back considering their sequel movies are listed on imdb lol

only thing I'm confused about is how on earth do they stop someone with all the stones. I mean if thanos can control time, see the future and all that stuff then he's pretty much unstoppable.

also, and I'm no marvel expert, but the last scene after the credits seems to imply that captain marvel is one hell of a badass.....is she?

Tiny bit miffed at the starlord vs thanos scene when Spider-Man almost had the glove off

Yeah he totally ****** them.

I understand what they were going for, his reasoning went out of the window but if they had got the glove off he could have avenged Gamorra better anyway...

Shame we never had a scene with all characters on the screen together. Half were on Earth (wakanda) and the other half were on Titan.

I watched it two parts as I was losing interest about half way through, watched the end the other night and it underwhelming, the ending just seemed inevitable, no real suspense or surprises.

I'm not a huge Marvel fan as the movies usually follow the same pattern, obviously this one is a little different as it's split over two movies but they're usually good for some mindless entertainment which this one doesn't deliver at all, the darker tone just ruined it, it's usually funny because they don't take it to seriously..

Oh well, it will be interesting to see how they conclude this and undo all the damage, I thought the CGI and character design was poor as well, kind of expect better from Marvel movies considering the budget.

The ending is the worst thing about IW. Knowing full well they aren't really dead was a silly way to end things. The snap really should have happened at the start of the second movie.

Some characters are obviously going to be killed off, but only after they are brought back to die 'properly' this time.

The best scene of the movie that turned to utter trash, was when Iron man was getting plastered by Thanos and it looked like he had got him dead to rights, only for it to go all 'disney' on us. Hard to feel emotion towards any of the characters when they are invincible - heck even the comics have mortality effects in them.

They could take it beyond the Infinity gems to Secret Wars with the Beyonders. This would be staggering and take ages with them milking it until they reach this stage.

Thanos will always subconsciously defeat himself I.e he knows he’s not worthy of ultimate power which is his undoing.

FYI they’ve said that they want the next phase of films to go cosmic, @ethan

Anyone else think the cg of Banner in the hulkbuster armour with the "top" off looked pretty weird? There's a few scenes i can think of where it looked like the armour looked very cartooney in contrast to Banner.

Example:

Something just looks off about it.

The film was okay. Biggest issue with Thanos type character is they are obviously so powerful, even the watered down version, that it was obvious he could do anything he wanted. It’s a problem with comic book characters in general, they just make them so over the top they back themselves into a corner. Only way out is another stupidly powerful character.

It is the reason why The Captain America films work so well.

Bucky also looks poorly CGI'd when he starts to disintegrate. It was something I didn't notice in the cinema but the UHD picture really shows up some of the CGI lacking the usual Marvel type quality.

That's cause Disney tenders to the lowest digital studios with impossible deadlines.

Marvel have control of their own studio, they make their own decisions about who to use.

I imagine it was more of a issue with time. It has to be one of the most effects heavy movies of all time. Bruce Banner does look a bit weird in some of the Hulkbuster shots but on the whole the CGI is great throughout.
