Battlefield V performance

This is a the sort of performance im getting from my RTX 2070 and 6600k at 4k, I only have 8gb of slow ram as well (2133mhz) vsync is on as was testing my gpu with freesync, you will see I get a massive drop at one point where it stutters bad but apart from that it wasn't too bad at all.

most things were on ultra except had textures on high, terrain on high, post processing on medium, lighting high, also had film grain, vignette (or however its spelt) etc off as hate the look with them settings on

I am not very impressed with Ray Tracing in the game despite having it set to maximum and all other settings maxed out as well.

I was doing a bit of testing and noticed I can not see my own reflection in water.

I also noticed that if you fire a weapon into water you don't get the reflections of the splashes that should be there.

Are we being conned with Ray Tracing?

Settings used.

That's you being unimpressed with the implementation of ray tracing in BF5, not being unimpressed with RT in general. In other words, could you clarify who you think is conning you?

Nooo, don't feed the anti-RT trolls :p
You see other character reflections in water though right? I'm sure I do. Noticed this yesterday playing the devastation map see fellow team mates running past a puddle. I'm using the medium RT setting.
Reflections of splashes probably a bit much at this stage :)

That hangup was due to running out of system memory and the gane was caching up. But generally it shows how well your system works when you cap to 60fps. i'm sure you'd see better frametimes with more memory and 4c8t, but it does run well.

It is interesting I think I might plug in my nvidia htpc to my freesync monitor just to have a play.

My early enthusiasm for the game has gone.

Performance is terrible. Barely enjoyable in either DX11 or DX12.

And the design choices they have made are crap when it comes to maps and game modes.

The games where one side starts with all the flags and less tickets (or whatever it is) is a rubbish mode. Why not just make both teams start as normal and have a normal game mode.

It's baffling.

Im looking to up my ram to 16gb when I have the cash, its going to be my next upgrade as haven't been able to play with ray tracing on at all yet due to the game locking up and crashing when I try, im sure its because I only have 8gb of slow ram.

I’d also agree while fps wise mine is fine there are frequent stutters in both DX11 and DX12 after the massive update a few days ago, as well as a load of bugs.

QA department at EA is nonexistent it seems.

I had a replacement 1080 refurb from my 980ti, after installing a few days ago its the same time the update dropped i blamed bfv for the laggy and the micro stutter at injured screen to being revived. I tried the normal wipe the drivers etc etc but it would not play 100 percent.

I can confirm after a full windows install, 4k at 60fps all ultra expect AA low, film grain and the other few things off I am getting a smooth game.

Happy days

Virtually everything in the update was a joke, kill cams, squad conquest (total rubbish, plus tanks at spawn on an 8v8 postage stamp map lol).

Nope, still crashes in dx12 with RT enabled :(

Mine had a chronic issue with this until I DDU the drivers and clean installed, then it was fine again. Well as fine as the game is...

Don't think that will help me as I have a new ssd for my c drive which I have installed the new drivers on, the old drivers are on another drive now so not sure it will make a difference?

also do you have 8gb of ram?

No its Dice (the main studio) - they can make great looking games but they lack people who can do great gameplay and are invested in creating great coding for utility/game logic and seemingly stubbornly refuse to let other studios get involved who've proved before they can take a Dice product and turn it into the game it should be albeit having to paper over a lot of cracks like "Dice" LA did with BF4.

Just reinstalled graphics drivers and managed my first game with ray tracing on without crashing, had RT on low and performance was TERRIBLE for me :( even in 1080p I was getting drops into the 30fps range, 1440p was almost the same so played on that res, wont be trying it again as performance for me was poop to say the least

Ofc, they had to nerf the life out of RT for it to be somewhat playable. It was obvious as soon as they "optimized" it but had also downgraded it at release too compared to Gamescom. RT is still 2 gens away from being interesting outside of demos.

I keep noticing on one of the MP maps the car(s) don't look too good now. Think it looked better originally so maybe in some areas it's been toned down. Other maps look the same if not better than initial release.

Mentioned a few times now that BFV for me at 1440P performs better with RT on that FFXV without RT, so it's already fairly decent tech even if it's just a bit of a taster.
