That's you being unimpressed with the implementation of ray tracing in BF5, not being unimpressed with RT in general. In other words, could you clarify who you think is conning you?I am not very impressed with Ray Tracing in the game despite having it set to maximum and all other settings maxed out as well.
I was doing a bit of testing and noticed I can not see my own reflection in water.
I also noticed that if you fire a weapon into water you don't get the reflections of the splashes that should be there.
Are we being conned with Ray Tracing?

That hangup was due to running out of system memory and the gane was caching up. But generally it shows how well your system works when you cap to 60fps. i'm sure you'd see better frametimes with more memory and 4c8t, but it does run well. This is a the sort of performance im getting from my RTX 2070 and 6600k at 4k, I only have 8gb of slow ram as well (2133mhz) vsync is on as was testing my gpu with freesync, you will see I get a massive drop at one point where it stutters bad but apart from that it wasn't too bad at all.
most things were on ultra except had textures on high, terrain on high, post processing on medium, lighting high, also had film grain, vignette (or however its spelt) etc off as hate the look with them settings on
Im looking to up my ram to 16gb when I have the cash, its going to be my next upgrade as haven't been able to play with ray tracing on at all yet due to the game locking up and crashing when I try, im sure its because I only have 8gb of slow ram. That hangup was due to running out of system memory and the gane was caching up. It is interesting I think I might plug in my nvidia htpc to my freesync monitor just to have a play.
I’d also agree while fps wise mine is fine there are frequent stutters in both DX11 and DX12 after the massive update a few days ago, as well as a load of bugs.
QA department at EA is nonexistent it seems.
Nope, still crashes in dx12 with RT enabled![]()
also do you have 8gb of ram?Virtually everything in the update was a joke, kill cams, squad conquest (total rubbish, plus tanks at spawn on an 8v8 postage stamp map lol).
Mine had a chronic issue with this until I DDU the drivers and clean installed, then it was fine again. Well as fine as the game is...
It's baffling.

I keep noticing on one of the MP maps the car(s) don't look too good now. Think it looked better originally so maybe in some areas it's been toned down. Other maps look the same if not better than initial release.Ofc, they had to nerf the life out of RT for it to be somewhat playable. It was obvious as soon as they "optimized" it but had also downgraded it at release too compared to Gamescom. RT is still 2 gens away from being interesting outside of demos.
