tbh this forums is pro amd. look at some of the thread titles. amd this that . but if you title it intel faster than amd it would be changed or removed.
how many intel fans have changed to intel for eg. a lot of people here just cant post without biased. then if you say that its because you are biased lol.
It has got a bit boring with the number of malcontents of late.
Hopefully not the Andy from Asus who kept beating my WRs with unreleased versions of hardware :|
Who? Scone? he did, he told us Zen would not run at more than 2.8Ghz with 2400Mhz memory, even put his 5820X PC up for a bet.
He got that horribly wrong, that was him 'apparently' telling all and was miles off the mark.
He doesn't work for anyone like that 8Pack he's just an excrement poster.
The motherboards are the key here. I want one that has good VRMs and good cooling but also doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Considering a couple of the MSI B450 boards outperform a lot of the X470 boards, it's a bit of a question mark.

Of COURSE the threads titles are AMD this that. Intel haven't done anything in the CPU space for 10 years lol! AMD are innovating. Chiplets, 7nm, Zen 2.
Plenty to talk about.
After watching some analysis videos, I came to these conclusions:
There is no mechanism to directly access L3 of another CCX.
What is misquoted as cross CCX latency in tomshardware is a round trip to DDR4 and back. (check own L3, check main memory, flush other CCX L3 to memory, retrieve data). That is why memory speed affects this metric a ton.
Infinity fabric between two CCX exists so that they can share the memory controller. There is no cross CCX communication except going to shared memory controller (on another chips memory controller in case of Threadripper and Epyc).

I believe I said Zen wouldn't do 3866 on the memory side, and it didn't. Still doesn't, in fact on current gen. Let's not do this again Humbug, just engage in the speculation and discussion, please.

Id say judging by the sheer fact that all rumors of motherboards so far point towards all vendors having many more versions available this release means we should have a large choice of decent X570 motherboards available. Personally hoping that theres some decent B550's this time, after buying the kids the MSI B450 Carbon Pro im well impressed with it against my X370 CH6... so much so im hoping i can a good B550 rather than an X570 this time round.
The only thing im hoping is that i can get a decent B550 with Wifi, top end VRM's, enough M2 slots to run a couple of nvme at full speed. Anything ontop of that is gravy.
Can't stand the fact that review guides have to exist, it either means that a product is way to complicated, or the product is not good enough so has to be scripted to show the best points while downplaying the problems/issues/missing features. If someone told me how to review a product I'd send it back them with a polite note saying "something off".
Hopefully they are better than just good looking
The funny thing is there are Intel thread's in this room and there aren't nearly as many AMD excrement posters as there are Intel excrement posters in here.

They often need to exist to make sure important elements are covered correctly, but I hear what you're saying. A lot of the power stuff goes straight over some peoples heads, so there needs to be some direction to show just why something is the way it is. Look at most Omega and Alpha board reviews, for example. You'll see a trend in how sites have written those sections.
Indeed. Even back with Bulldozer, AMD was doing something different. Didn't work out too well but at least they tried! Llano before that too. Intel have just iterated the same (pretty damn good) design. There's nothing for the tech enthusiast to talk about when it's the same as the last product but 100MHz faster
A lot of the lower end X470 boards have B450 VRMs on them but because they put plastic LED thrilly covers over the VRM Heat Syncs they don't get cooled nearly as well as the B450 variants that don't have any of that crap on them. The Gigabyte boards for example.

99% of people on these CPU forums are enthusiast and brand agnostic.

Indeed, not everyone is an electrical engineer and understands the finer points of the board capabilities, especially with power phases and benefits of a certain VRM layout and why specific components are chosen, especially on the high-end boards where the price less relevant than making it 'the best'. I do think that when you start seeing and hearing people parroting what has been written for them you can tell that it is not their own words, and doesn't fit with the style of writing or talking at their normal level or capability with that subject. I also think that it should be disclosed in any review written or spoken, which aspects are given on a plate vs. the facts and opinions of the reviewer, after all there are objective and subjective points in all reviews, but it is good to know what is what.

They're free to disclose anything they don't agree with in the reviews, so it's down to the reviewer, mostly. If the narrative makes sense, then they'll go with the flow. Being humble is the best policy, especially when it comes to the deeper stuff.
