*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

Took it all off, undid the top straps etc etc. Put it all together (changed the angles a bit too), and now doing it like you melmac.

Still not convinced by the strap at the back of the head, seems more like it's just resting in a weird way, rather than actually helping, but have yet to game and test if it's still comfortable. Ripped off some padding I'd added, can always add more back if needed. This way feels like I need to tighten it more but at the same time, when I do tighten it more, like it will stay on better? Problem is just whether it can stay cmfortable for a long time when tightened.

Still, let's go Gorilla and find out!

Sorry guys, one piece of advice I forgot. I couldn't get it to work with the velcro straps that came with the head mount. It was impossible to get it adjusted right. But had some other Velcro straps lying around and used them and it was so much easier!!

Here is a photo as close to possible as to the position it is on my head.

There is a larger gap between the back strap and the battery mount when it's actually on my head. The Velcro isn't slack. That's the hardest adjustment. Getting it so that it's loose enough to put on easily but tight enough not to be slack when it's actually on your head.

And you might notice that the stock strap is now padding while also helping to hold my counter weights onto the battery mount. Two heavy bolts, at least until I can buy a battery.

I played about 2 hours of VR last night, no pressure marks or soreness anywhere. It was great. I was so relieved when I figured it out because the head mount was a total disappointment for me until I did. Was actually thinking of getting rid of it.
 
That did not work for me at all. Even on the tightest setting, the rear strap wasn't contacting my head. Not sure why I tried TBH as it was comfortable before.

The rear strap being the ratchet one? If it didn't contact your head this time, how does it normally? Or do you mean the non-ratchet rear strap? I found I actually needed to make that one a lot looser (and the one on top), for it to sit correctly and get to the back of my head. I'm not sure how much it's doing there to be honest, but making it looser helped it fit.

No, the one being discussed above (the rear of the two adjustable straps). If I wear it per the photo on the previous page then that strap does absolutely nothing.

Ah sorry, only joking. But, to get it right you have to open up all the Straps completely and start again. If you didn't re-adjust the top strap then it's not going to be right. Because changing the positioning of the back strap involves a complete change to the angle and position of the head mount on your head. I wonder are you trying to put it on too low?

Like me, you were complaining about the weight of the Quest 2 pulling the whole thing forward. This is why. The back strap not been in the right place. Because now, even without the counter weight of the battery, it doesn't pull forward.

It's a head size/shape problem I think. I just tried it again, and my head is too long for that strap to go where it's meant to be. If I pull it back as far as I can, it sits over a flat part of my skull and doesn't make good contact. So it's better off further up.

I do have a freakishly large head TBF. I've put it back how it was. With the battery pack on the back it's fine.

Possibly, but you need monster hardware to run 120hz in many PC VR games. As well as the Quest 2 I run an Index on a 3090 and a 3900x, and generally I have to run at 90hz in demanding games. (At least at a decent resoluton and detail level). Only simpler games like Pistol Whip can run at a constant 120hz.

That argument can be run for most headsets. It's still an additional advantage.

As long as you can find a comfortable position on your head, that's all that matters really.
 
Gah, my MVH headset arrived today but the top of the battery clip snapped off as soon as I put the battery in :( Looking at where it's broke, it's very flimsy so I'm not surprised. Dunno if I just got unlucky or they're weak at that point. Gonna have to try and superglue it in place, I think.
