*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

Looks OK. I suggest wearing the headstrap, and getting that comfortable, then adding the quest in (may need to play with the angle of the arms).

Tray having the battery facing the other way if the cable will reach, so the cable comes across the top of the headset. My cable length is much better this way (loop it through the velcro at the back).

I've found having the vertical strap going from the headset to the battery pack (assisted with some velcro loops from the velcro supplied), helps the counterweight offset a bit more, but it's not essential, and having it on the forehead band may be more comfortable overall (not tried it).

Key for me was finding the point at which the weight is on the headstrap, and not the facial interface, but still having the facial interface as close as possible..

Doesn't look like you've added any foam to the back or the horizontal straps yet, that might help comfort too.

thanks for the help mate

I'll ask your for another photo if you dont mind, close ups in bits here and there would be awesome :)

hope you dont mind, sorry

You can see I've added a lot of extra foam on the inside, due to my narrow head shape. I've basically added the foam over time as points were creating pressure on my skull. Little bit of foam here and there evens it out.
EDTI - Used some extra velcro from motherboard or somesuch, to doubly secure the battery in place, after it maanged to come out after some vigourous gorilla tag.

oo nice

i like the idea about the design of the strap that goes over the middle, genius ! as the MVH strap install guide hasent got it like that

Yeah, I realised that the battery pack wasn't acting as of much of a counterweight as it could. It actually came about because I had it setup incorrectly, with the headset being pulled onto my face more than the headband, the counterweight helped a lot with this, and continues to help balance it out after. Finding just the right amount is interesting. Found the best way to do it, is leave it loose, put it all on, then slowly tighten it until you feel the slight lift on weight. Not too much, otherwise you start pulling the back up off the base of your skull.

hmm

no MVH studios video on the Quest 2
things are slightly different

does this look about right ?

Ouf that just hurts me looking at it if I am brutally honest.
Very happy with the Elite strap with battery that I got. Well worth the money!

How are you guys looking at yourselves whilst in VR???

I couldn't care less if it was bright pink with neon green highlights, if it was comfortable :D.

Ok, I have since discovered why this is the case. You shouldn't need the strap from the Stock strap to balance the weight. The problem is in the position of the back adjustable strap on the MVH headhead mount. Looking at both of your pictures, you were both making the same mistake I was. You both have the adjustable strap nearest the battery mount in an upright position. Where it's more acting as another top strap. It's not meant to be like that, it's supposed to be more of back strap.

Here is a guy wearing it correctly.

Sorry for such a large photo. But, you hopefully you can see what I mean here in this photo. You see how the back strap and the arms that attach to the Quest 2 are nearly in one straight line. When you wear it correctly, the counter weight works as intended. The way we were/are wearing it, we are not using the back strap properly at all.

When I found out that the MVH Studios guy based his design on a Welders helmet, I realised we were wearing it incorrectly. A welders helmet is very good at distributing the weight of a front heavy load around the whole of the head.

Agreed, while the headset is hardly a thing of beauty, wearing that looks like some kind of torcher device from the film Seven.

It's way more comfortable than it looks. And it is more comfortable than the Elite strap. The only problem is that because it's so adjustable it takes time to get the fit just right on your head.

I genuinely cant imagine anything more comforable than the Elite, but Ill take your word for it.
What I love about the Elite, slip it on, adjust the rotary knob on the end. Done fitting it on in 2 seconds.

Once you get the MVH Studios strap configured, it's just as easy to take on and off as the Elite Strap. It has an adjustable knob on the back that you rotate to open or close as needed.

Hmm, I'll give that a shot Melmac!

But you had it pretty comfortable? I think as long as you are happy with it, then it's good, no?

I couldn't get mine comfortable at all when using the stock strap, and the back strap was driving me batty, it seemed like such a waste of time, why did he bother including it?? Which is why I kept trying to find a better fit.

i cant quite get it like that on my head, i cant take a pic when its on my head, ill have to get a remote one on a stand

Yeah, I had that problem when I first realised the problem with the backstrap. I thought my top strap adjustment was fine the way it was. What You have to take off the Quest 2 and open the adjustable straps to the widest possible.

I would take off the battery too while you are adjusting it. It's easier without the weight attached.
