What film did you watch last night?

She had Hep C.
Fairly sure it's heavily implied she
dies from HIV/AIDS.

I don't think Jenny sleeps with him after she's diagnosed with the (then unknown) HIV.

Jenny considers herself unworthy of any love because of the abuse she suffered as a child at the hands of her father. She knows she's broken and keeps leaving Forest because she doesn't want to drag him down to what she considers her level. It's only when she has a child that she offers and gains unconditional love, and has someone else to live for that she understands she's more than just a broken child grown into a broken woman.

It's funny how many people see this film (myself included) really dislike Jenny for her comings and goings, her inability to commit, etc, but when it's explained from her point of view, she's really a character in need of help and sympathy to overcome her trauma and damage, which Forest eventually does
by loving her, giving her a child, and eventually marrying her.
As I say, it was mostly tongue in cheek, I do realistically understand she should be a sympathetic character but hard to with the way she's written and the emotional hurt she also gives to Forrest.

You've sold it to me now! Actually sounds pretty good now you have given it that description. Will have to try and catch it when it's next on TV.

Yes it is, but IIRC, she doesn't sleep with Forest after they get back together. It's not shown or implied.

Totally, and in part because the audience knows they should be together. It's only when you dig a little deeper you realise she's staying away from Forest because she loves him, even though she hurts him every time she leaves. She could stay and be happy, but she thinks she doesn't deserve it, and it's better for Forest if she stays away. On the surface she's flighty and selfish, but her deeper reasons are more noble.

That's the bit my memory failed me on, whether she willingly sleeps with him once she knows.

It's a good excuse to rewatch - considering I quote so many lines from it on a regular basis :)

Forest Gump is definitely one of those films you should see at least once. It's modern classic, but it has a flavour of being almost a fantasy tale where remarkable things happen to an ordinary person who's almost too simple to realise that his life is pretty extraordinary. Forest is never bound by his limitations, he just does amazing things because he doesn't stop to think that anything is impossible for him.

It's another remarkable on-screen performance by Tom Hanks.

Day Shift (2022) - 5/10

A light hearted buddy movie about vampire hunters in California which serves its purpose as mindless entertainment to be watched then forgotten about.

The plot is functional and ticks all the boxes – a mix of new and traditional vampire lore, opposite partners (a rebellious lead paired up with a green rookie), mysterious female ally who works for the enemy, an estranged family who are taken hostage – but the rushed and lazy second half spoils it a bit, as does the underdeveloped supporting cast.

The fast paced and destructive action has a comical twist and Snoop Dogg’s character leaves a lasting impression, but it is a bit too puerile at times.

Watched it yesterday and agree with everything including the rating. Worth watching just to see Snoop as he's pretty comical. And clearly high as a kite in every scene. Although he always looks like that so..

Yeah I agree its a really good movie, but I will say, on subsequent watches it does feel like the last third/quater of the movie does drag out a bit.

100% though must watch at least once in your life movie.

The Interceptor 0/10

Not even going to rate this film.

I don't have a high standard when it comes to films but this film is awful.

The dialogue is so bad I turned the film off.

A wet fish as the lead.

I also get the feeling the writers don't like men or are male feminist allies.

The Mist. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0884328/

As mentioned a few pages back, very good and quite an ending - even if unlikely.

Just watched it again (been years since I last did, so had forgotten everything), underrated film, and the ending plus the music is unforgettable!*

*Until I go to sleep again.

Top Gun Maverick, I think i prefer this over the first, can't fault much at all, sound design in the cinema was pure class, Jet weaving in through the canyons, great cast of characters, glad i went to see this in the picture house, a strong 8/10

Lullaby (2019)

A good film akin to nineties classic, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle but more subtle.

Has some proper shift in your seat, uncomfortable moments that give you the creeps, a decent French horror - 8/10.
