RTX 4070 12GB, is it Worth it?

lol at those developers.
Most games stutter regardless of how much vram is available or how much hardware you throw at them due to lazy ports.
They just admitted to doing lazy ports and looking for something to put the blame on.
Are you a developer?, do you have any clue how many man hours it takes to sit there trying to squeeze every single last ounce out of a GPU?. This is not console devs with a set of known specs that are not changing, these are devs trying to get a game to run across 1000 different configs, time is money, welcome to the real world. PCs have always had to use brute force, the issue is Nvidia does not want to give us the same amount of Vram on a £600 GPU as a whole ******* £450 console, along with its SSD, CPU, GPU, chasis, fans, custom software OS, joypad, cables etc etc.

It's alright, AMD generally are making it up for them the more popular they get ;) :D
I think it's all about ego's. Everyone forgets it's about people not faceless corporate identities. More naming and shaming I say, don't let them hide in their corner offices!

As an aside note how as the YT channels grow they become less critical of the hand that feeds them...

I’m not trying to defend Nvidia here or anyone else, all I’m saying is that most games released recently run badly despite vram amount or how powerful the hardware is.
I really don’t care how many hours it takes them to make a game and they should put more efforts getting games to reasonable state before releasing them.
That goes for consoles as well.

What games?, the vast majority games that "run poorly" are garbage titles rushed out for cash, thats a developer issue....

TLOU runs just perfectly, even on hardware from 3 years ago...And yet its in the limelight for "poor performance, blame the devs, erm no, it just needs a decent PC, with the proper amount of VRAM. People where told years ago their 3070 was not a future proof card with 8 gb ram, game comes out that needs 12GB, they cry and blame the developers lol....so again, what games run terribly?, do you know the specs of each machine that had a bad review or what?, odds are most people are idiots, and have poor speced machines that are not suitable for such games at high settings, or they buy GPUs and install them over previous drivers from other vendors instead of doing a fresh install windows, then wonder why they have crashes and stuttering...

I’m not satisfied how it runs for me and look at my hardware.
I guess we all have different expectations to what “runs perfectly” means.
So you do agree that it’s developers issue after jumping on me saying “are you a developer” ?

I have seen it run perfectly throughout on a 3080ti @1440p.....Its mostly user error. Not loading textures, bad PCs etc etc.

Yes and this is the launch of the 4070, it should be a lot higher if it was a good launch and a great launch the numbers would be going through the floor compared to the other cards.
Yeah, this was what Gibbo said about the 3080 launch.

We asked, the problem is OcUK sold 5000+ cards pretty much within the first hour of launch, so the promo had ended literally within minutes and the fact is NVIDIA only probably have a small handful of spare codes as they sent us 1000 initially but as we sold thousands within minutes the promo was over before it started, plus the fact the redemption period I also believe ends very soon.

That's why the devs are releasing multiple patches to fix their **** port. Its been review bombed on steam and criticized on tech sites.

herp derp it's user error....

The Last of Us Part I v1.0.3 Patch Notes

A patch for The Last of Us Part I is now live. This update addresses audio, UI, and visual fixes. It also includes new Audio Compatibility options and various improvements throughout the game.

Important note to Nvidia users
: Please be sure to download the latest version of the GeForce Game Ready driver (531.61) here.

  • Added new Audio Compatibility options (Options > Audio > Compatibility)
    • Output Mode:
Adjust which sounds are played through the OS spatial sound driver. Select different settings if you experience muffled, missing, or unusually quiet audio. If you are experiencing abnormally quiet music or dialogue during cutscenes, for example, try the Spatial mode instead of the Hybrid default.
    • Latency:
Adjust the short period of delay between when a sound effect is requested and when it plays. Higher latency improves reliability of audio playback, especially on lower spec CPUs. Increase this value if you are experiencing pops, clicks, or distorted sound. Higher latencies also resolve issues with audio interfaces configured with large buffer sizes and some wireless headphones.
Note: You must restart the game for the change to take effect.

  • Updated keyboard and mouse (KBM) controls to allow players to reassign arrow keys
  • Updated the 'Building Shaders %' user interface (UI) so progress is tracked more evenly
  • Restored audio in the End Credits that are accessed via the main game, Left Behind, or Extras Menu
  • Fixed a crash that may occur when opening a collectible in the backpack UI then attempting to restart or quit the game
  • Fixed a crash that may occur while sitting (for extended times) or entering into combat areas
  • Fixed an issue where texture quality in-game appears lower then the targeted quality setting

Does this look perfect to you.?
That is not even max settings but high with textures on ultra and DLSS quality.

I get that slight stutter in the background when panning around but if walk straight it's smooth , I think some are just not sensitive to it ? . Every other game I play is perfectly smooth

5800x3d - 3080 using high preset at 1440p , 32gb system ram you'd think that would be good enough

Yes some are less sensitive to it and also having motion blur enabled hides it somewhat which I disable in every game.
Using 48” oled screen as a monitor exaggerates every little stutter so I see them all and it ****** me off.

Also turned off motion blur and movie grain, I know it probably get fixed later by that time I'll probably have completed it and I don't reply single player games once done that's me done

The Last of Us Part I v1.0.1.5 Patch Notes

Hey everyone,

A new hotfix for The Last of Us Part I is now live. This update primarily focusses on stability and performance improvements and other smaller improvements.

The team is closely watching player reports and actively working on a patch with more bugfixes, to be released soon.

Patch Notes
  • Fixed several performance & hitch related issues impacting some users.
  • Note:
Additional improvements and investigations based on user feedback are underway.
  • Added extra crash diagnostic information to assist in investigating shader building related crashes and other common reported stability issues.

So there's more bugs on Nvidia cards than AMD cards?

I jest.

But it does amaze me how ports often have so many bugs, considering most of the development has already been done, the only place the attention needs to be placed is in the port itself shouldn't cost an arm and a leg to place a few developers to run through it, considering the development bedget has already been returned and profitable at least for TLOU.

Does this look perfect to you.?
That is not even max settings but high with textures on ultra and DLSS quality.
Yes like I said, the game took like 1-2 hours to pre load textures, if you play during this time instead of waiting and letting it finish, it has to load them in mid game, thats user error. If you wait and let it finish it runs perfectly. Yes the devs could have chosen a different way for it to work, but they did not, so complain about their choices, not the way the game runs, because like I said, user error.
