Ghosts? Are you a believer? I didn't really until this happened..

I've told this story before on here. A mate and I finished a night out early in Bolton and had to walk across the town to get to a B&B we rented a room for the night.

Taking the quickest route back involved us cutting through the red light area. After walking down the main side road, past old factories, we turned the corner to walk down another road.

I was following my friend and as we turned the corner I walked into what I first thought was a prostitute, so I started to try and brace for impact. Then I thought from this angle I should have made contact by now. I started to back off, while still looking at whatever this was.

As I backed away I just saw a distorted mist. Like there was something there but I couldn't make out a figure. All around the mist my eyesight was clear. I just knew if I blinked it would be gone. I blinked and it was gone.

I looked around to my friend to ask if he saw anything. I could already tell he did by the look on his face.

More recently I found who it was;

There is also a mist sighting of her in the 1980s.

I have heard of ghosts and strange phenomena off trusted people throughout my life. I think there is something happening that we haven't evolved to understand yet.

:)

I'd think most experiences could be attributable to pareidolia; "the phenomenon wherein people perceive likenesses on random images such as faces, animals or objects on clouds and rock formations. It's not a clinical diagnosis nor is it a disorder. The brain has a tendency to assign meaning wherever it can". I think this can extend to experiences too, searching for answers, a meaning or conclusion.

Here's mine. I got the call that my mum had taken a bad fall and was in hospital and needed an urgent operation. So I and my other half quickly packed our bags and started the 7 hour, 380 mile north from the south of England to Scotland to see her. On the way we stopped at a services on the M74 to swap driver and stretch our legs. It was dark by now and the wind was quite wild which surprised me as I didn't feel it while on the road.
What was more surprising however, were the crows. So many crows. I could hear them scream over the noise of the wind and just faintly make out their shapes against the dark night sky, flocking from one patch of trees to another. Like black on black in the night sky, I struggled to make out their shapes. I had never seen so many crows in my life, nor since. Upon staring up at them it was at that point I had a feeling I was too late.
It was now my turn to drive the final 90 minutes in to Glasgow, thankfully as it gave my mind something else to think about. My other half kept asking if I was alright and I mentioned the crows and the feeling I had. "You're being silly" she said. When we finally got to my sister's to meet up before going to the hospital together, I saw her and her family get out of their car and head straight in, not acknowledging that I had arrived. Once in my sisters house it was at this point she told me mum had died 90 minutes ago.

So yeah, were the crows paranormal or a form of pareidolia? I know what I like to believe.

I can never understand why people are so closed minded to it, are they afraid or something? Electricity would have essentially been magic to us 300 years ago, but science caught up and now look. What if quantum mechanics or string theory will one day explain it? Personal I think maybe space time is folded on itself and the nodes where it touches might see time ‘echo’s’ or something like that.

I loved looking at the photos in ghost books as a kid in the 80s.

Back then photos were taken on film and developed afterwards.

Fast forward to the 21st century where everyone has a high quality camera in their hand, and there should be pictures of ghosts everywhere.

So do we get lots of ghost pics?

No, we get footage of police brutality and people convicted of child abuse.

Uh huh.

The challenge to the none believers is, would you be prepared to use a ouija board at night in a known haunted building on your own?
Yes because a ouija board is a toy and there's no such thing as a known haunted building because ghosts don't exist.

Used to hear phantom footsteps walking down a corridor in my parents old house. Often around the same time of day. It wasn't just the usual old house creaks, it was clearly feet on carpet then transitioned to wood in the kitchen at the end. One time a bathroom tap turned itself on. Never got to the bottom of it.

If you talk to most people they will have some odd experience they can't explain. Even when they don't believe in it.

It's no different than playing Monopoly. No I wouldn't because I'm not a gullible fool. I would probably play some Stalker 2 though. Define "Known haunted".

To be fair there are a lot of pics and cam captures but...a lot are easily debunked and those that aren't so easily debunked still have frothers ranting against them.

Yes since I don't believe it I would have absolutely no problem with that.

There are two possible outcomes. One is nothing happens and the other is that something happens and I change my mind.

Third. They steal your soul and you become nought but a husk of a man.

Its basically the same issue as UFOs, in this world when absolutely everything is recorded, and when there is a plane crash or an accident, chances are someone just happened to be recording something else and captures it, no one ever by chance captures a clear, in-focus, sustained clip of either a ghost or a UFO.

And all those ghost hunters and big foot hunters etc, season after season of programmes, never come up with anything that stands up to even the most basic scrutiny.

I'm not 15 any more.

I'm firmly in the nonbeliever camp but I do enjoy a good ghost story. A friend of my partners gave us a good one the other day to the point she had a medium come out to her house and "open a portal that if the ghost wishes to leave, she can use... but be prepared it may not want to leave"

They have it so bad they refuse to use the room! Let me be clear, with the way mortgage prices are going? I'll be damned if I let some spirit have a room for free. Not on my watch, buddy!

We've actually just bought tickets to Uncanny on tour. Should be a fun event to go to.

I think a lot of the non believers are that way because they haven't experienced anything themselves.

Whatever these incidents are, whether it's a ghost or whatever, something is happening.

But until you experience something unusual that you've never experienced before then it's going to come down to how much you trust someone else.

It isn't really about belief. Something happened. These incidents might not be ghosts or anything supernatural.

Why would millions of people all described similar incidents, or we see strange images on live cameras, If nothing happened?
