you should lower the volts too, its not just about heat, it does reduce temps, but also power and noise etc, so its worth doing. most cards should be able to drop 100mv of each p state without much issue.

That's very true, at the moment the max mine hits is 1.09v so I could lower the volts to 1.1v for the top Pstates easily enough but as I am not playing with the power level at the moment I have left it as it is.

by the sounds of things it will be automatic soon anyway in the next big driver update hopefully

Right! - all installed and seems to be working fine (which is a relief - I was a bit worried about the motherboard and PSU being up to it). In terms of tweaking (and hoping not to be a numpty and stuff anything up!) - is the 'received wisdom' that I create a custom profile in Global Wattman and change the P6 and P7 states to 1100 mV and increase the power limit to +50%. Is there anything else I need to do - for example play with fan speeds etc?

The third 8 pin connectir on the limited edition from sapphire, isnt it used only for the extra leds and if you planning to overclock it for more power ?

And they also saying it has a vapor chamber ?

OK so I downloaded the latest drivers and installed them after a DDU cleanout in safe mode. To my dredd I got the BSOD WHEA error that must be happening to others (pci express 2 issue) as I have an older motherboard. It is a Sabertooth 990fx r2 with latest BIOS.

Good job I created that restore point!

Anyone notice workarounds to this? I fear badgering AMD about it will get nowhere, and the chance of a BIOS update coming from ASUS slim to none as it was last updated in 2016.

Its not really a PCI express 2 issue. Rather its uefi bios issue. IF you dont have uefi bios when you got Windows 10 you get bsod

i have the powercolor red dragon vega 56 overclocks good and nice and cool never had any bother with it. the 3 fans keep it very cool.

Same here, not sure why this card isnt recommended more often, well worth the current price of £350.

Agreed, surprised The Roll of Honour doesn't feature more of these cards!
