The PS3 version does look much blurrier to me from the Gametrailers HD comparison.

Upscaling at work, it will make anything look softer/blurrier, at least to me.

Is it blur though? Or is it depth rendering (forget the exact term).
As blur would make it look a little, well, blury, but the PS3 version when i saw it, it was still reasonably crisp, just 'softer' looking around the edges.

its blur, ive posted a photo of it on my screen a few times now. its is by far the blurriest game ive seen on the ps3.

that is not sharp at all. this is with sharpening applied on the tv

PS3 runs at 640P and that's generally why people say it is blurrier. :)

but that isnt why its blurry. ive said this before as well: gt4p runs at around the same resolution and it is very sharp

Is there a quick way to blow up cars with a pistol? I can't find a little gas tank anywhere?

They do exist and work, which I found to my cost :D

Check down the dock area under the brooklyn bridge. I found about a dozen on the wooden jettys. Dont know if you can lift them though as I though Id shoot one and see and all 10 went up blowing me in slow mo into the drink !

It's the way the PS3 renders. This was mentioned by a guy at Rockstar.

So why does it look the same on the 360?

I'm sure its just the quality level the 360 and PS3 can handle, with everything else going on.

We'll have to wait for the PC version for better shadows/AA and AF I guess.

Been playing all day, I went up to my new penthouse appartment. Went out on the roof garden and was standing in a thunder storm lighting up the skyline, in the background you could hear the subway train going past. As the sun rose in the sky the lights in the tower blocks went off and around 8am you could hear the birds twittering and the rush hour traffic going around the city with car horns blaring and the odd siren. Amazing :)

Thats true, it's also pretty much been confirmed on B3D forums that the PS3 is not blurry because of the resolution difference, but rather it's a filtered effect to smooth out the jaggies.

Look at the shot below and see how it helps, remember the 360 version has 2xAA, the PS3 has no AA yet it still does well to keep up,

Look at the outline of Nikko on the PS3 version, there are hardly any jaggies, look at the top of the green bins on the left, less jaggie, look at the edge of the shadows, much smoother on the PS3 version, look at the shop's on the back street, pay particular attention to the windows and frames on the 360 version, you can see the dithering effect (graininess), your notice on the PS3 version you can't see any of this graininess, it's filtered and smooth, now I'm not saying that the PS3 is better, but, there are some +'s to be seen from the filter they decided us on the PS3 version,

End of they day you look at the two shots below and they are hardly a world apart, ok you can break them down and become over analytical about them like I have, but whack them on a big screen LCD panel and sit back on your sofa and they really do look pretty much identical, the differences that I've seen in both versions seem to come down to personal preferences, the only thing that I could say either one version has over the other is that the 360 version seems to run a little smoother across the board, apart from that they are equal.

Have you sat down and played both or are you going off screenshots?

I'd be intrested to hear if the PS3 version has a better drawn distance at all, thats the only thing that is annoying me so far.

It doesn't, I have both.

360

+ Framerate seems more steady overall
+ Sharper
- Some pop-in, but once the game has cached to the HDD it seems to go away for the most part

PS3

+ Quicker loading times
+ I preferred the colours, a little bit
+ Less pop-in
- Framerate dips more often
- Backgrounds are blurry

Didn't realise the PS3 version was that blurry until now. 360 version may be a little pixelated when you look closely, but even on my 42" I sit far enough away for it not to be noticable.
