**Official Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Discussion Thread**

After a good few months with this piece of s.... motherboard I quit!! :(

Sorry to hear you've had a frustrating time with the board.

I have to stick with it (well more or less), because it was recommended as having great compatibility with OS X Mountain Lion.

I know from discussions on "custom mac" sites they have been looking at various ways to have proper USB 3.0 support in OS X. From what I understand there are several USB hubs on this board. Don't overlook this. The USB 3.0 ports at the back and the ones from the additional hub connected to the front of your case are not the same controllers. The ones at the back should work fine, the additional hub is a VIA VL810 controller and requires the proper drivers.

Sorry I'm so vague but maybe that can give you a few ideas. I can confirm that in the hackintosh community they've had some issues with USB front ports working haphazardly but it seems some people got them working fine.

It has to be the worst motherboard in my 13 years of bulding PC`s. The USB`s are borked period!! I download a large file and after 1-2 hours PC freezes DEAD time dont progress nothing but switch off will work.

I personally have had enough and as soon as i can its getting ebayed !!!
Do not buy this board its pain in the ....!!! :(

Don't give up. Just RMA it, look like faulty board u got there. As my board is brilliant and had no problem so far with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. No issues and I am using F8 BIOS because (it the most stable one!)

What is doing my head in is everything else is fine, I dont have a problem with anything at all. But as soon as I start downloading a large file 1h+ then it just locks dead.

Never have I had such a strange problem !!! I have changed wifi adapters, I have reinstalled windows, done everything and still locks after 1h+ of downloading. The peice of crap dont even lock when am streaming utube etc Just when I decide to get a large file that takes more than 1 hour it freezes !!!

This week I am on a mission to sort it or dump it!! I am going to take out my xonar D2 use on board sound, remove 8gb of ram and reinstall windows if it dont fix then its going period.

Its driving me nuts and as soon as I get cash its gone!!!

Its hard as everything else is fine i have no complaints whatsoever just the stupid USB/WiFi large file download is p...... me off!!! :(

What do you mean by USB/WIFI? You use a USB Wifi dongle? I'm using a PCI card for Wifi.

Are you sure you're not experiencing faulty memory or storage? From what little you have described this sounds like a storage issue.

Do you use Intel SSDs? They have caused some lockups for some people until they updated RST drivers or something (Google it up). My 520 and 330 worked out of the box in AHCI mode.

Hello all, i just purchased one of these boards with my new set up , cant say im having any issues with the mobo itself but more a driver issue, dam freeze ups and pc just shuts itself down randomly, seems that verify program that comes with windows detected a driver error and gave me BSOD.

Thanks to this thread i can get the right mobo drivers to d/l and install as im going to do a full format reinstall job on friday...start from scratch and hope it doesnt happen again.
I blame overclockers tbh :P i purchased the pc from them and unknowing to me i had the raid 0 option checked which i didnt want, but after numerous phone calls to them i was told to just remove the battery from the mobo to reset it so i get rid of the raid config and it would reset to factory settings (which also included me reinstalling windows and having to use driveragent and the web to find out what drivers to get)....as you can probably tell now im not tech head so the disc would have helped loads but they never sent it with the pc....
quote-'we dont send out mobo disc as the drivers are most probably outdated'..

Anyhow ive also been reading the update bios part...i think i would end up doing some damage there so ill prob leave it at what it came as haha

p.s sry for wall of text :)

You can't really do any damage unless you power off the machine halfway through a flash, also it has 2 bios for this very reason so be worry about it. You have to learn some time :)

Xonar D2 as in PCI ? I had to bin my X-FI PCI card as it was the cause of frequent lock ups. Used onboard fine and now using a PCI-E card with no problem either.

I'm also a little on the fence about keeping this board or not...it's been probably the most problematic board I've ever had what with the soundcard issue, loads of problems with the samsung ram (which I've now swapped out as a result) and currently a nice BSOD issue which I've tracked down to the 17.3 release of intels lan driver (windows8).

Just so hard to get this thing to stay stable, with or without any overclocking :/

i have just brought this, b grade from OCUK and it's all running nicely.

i have 5 hard drives, 1 x 120 gig kingston V200 SSD and 4 x sata 3 hdd's. it only picks 2 drives up in the bios as does windows.

i have 2 drives, 1 x ssd and a 2tb sata 3 connected to the 2 grey sata 3 ports and other 3 to the other ports. 1 has a blu ray attached.

i want to use this as a media server to if possible and leave my machine on. any reason why it's not recognising the other drives in windows?

my system:
core i5 3570k cpu
Z77X DS5H giga mobo
8 gig of black dragon geil 1600 mhz ram
1 x kingston 120 gig V200 SSD drive for windows
1 x 2tb WD green sata 3 drive
1 x 1.5 tb WD sata 3 drive
2 x 1 tb samsung and seagate HDD

will be adding my zyxel 2 tb media server hdd to it as well if i can use as a server.
blu ray dvd-rw drive
500 wt collermaster silent pro modular psy
fractal design R3 case

Try a new BIOS.

Check the SATA cables.

Is the SATA controller actually set to ON in the BIOS? (I think you can switch the Marvell one off and on) if thats what the missing drives are connected too.

Yer as in PCI xonar D2, I am going to take it out next time it locks! The problem is it take 1-2 hours the lock up so i dont know if what i have changed has worked for 1-2 hours!! :(

Today I have enable network stack whatever that does and that failed i have now disabled xHCI! see if that works. Not staying too long as its lock up time soon. Report back l8r!!

ye i might give it a go in the future, i always like to keep things up to date but this bios thing has always scared me. The thought of screwing it up and having to replace it or send it back is a concern for me. :D
Ill be happy to just stop this random freeze up and shut downs (had to power down like 10 mins ago due to a lock up)....its getting annoying now :(

Oh well just locked again lasted a whole 1h:57min before it locked!!

Sound card has now been removed see if that makes any odds!!!

Its not my memory thats been checked with memtest and its not the hard drive as crystal disk says all is ok and I dont have trouble moving large files around. Even through my extrenal USB harddrive no locks.

It also does not matter about my download speed even if its low 5.0kbs it still locks.
I cannot even get a report as it locks hard and no error reports are made the only one is when I boot again saying windows was not shut down properly!

I dunno but as i have said never in my life have I had such a strange irritating problem!

I am determind to get to the bottom of this!! ;)

So I don't have to lookm back through this thread, you have tried,

• Clear/Rest BIOS, set everything to stock values?
• BIOS updates (official and Beta?)
• Set BCLK to 100.1Mhz manually?
• Latest drivers as posted by Nelly in this thread?

First one yes was done a while back
2nd one I am about do if sound card removal does not work
3rd yes BCLK set to 100.1
Will try drivers after bios update! ;)
