10GB vram enough for the 3080? Discuss..

How is the experience with the 3080 in CyberPunk? What settings are you managing to play on?

I am happy to wait for my card to arrive before playing the game. Also I am happy to wait a few months for the game to get patched as it sounds like it is in a bit of a state at the moment.

I'm still in position 730 ish for my GPU so could be March - April 21 before I get my card.
Why don't you just buy an FE like I did? By March/April the card will have bloody gone through a quarter of it's life cycle (before being replaced with Hopper).

I am playing it RT Ultra settings 4K using DLSS Performance. Only thing I have turned off is the basic graphics settings (dof, motion blur, film grain etc) which are all trash and I do not know why they are on by default as imo they serve to make the image quality worse. In terms of fps I am getting mostly high 50's, but does dip into the 40's in certain areas. I was using DLSS Quality, but that uses up an extra 10fps which means the game dips into the 30's which is noticeable. I am surprised at how well DLSS performance works in this game, so just stayed with that to benefit from the fps boost.

It's equally as hard to get hold of the FE though inst it?

That’s how I play it too but despite that frame rate it does stutter when driving around and vrr doesn’t help.
I only disabled motion blur and I think ssr from highest setting to the one below that.
At first I had DLSS set to auto and I was getting some horrible flashing dots on some surfaces but changing that to performance sorted it out for the most part without affecting frame rate.
I’ve been playing from 8:30am to 3:30am non stop (except quick meal and toilet breaks) on Friday and had 0 crashes.

Well as soon as I decided to do it I had one within a week or two as I recall. Just join the telegram group that has a bot. As soon as it pings you you have have to buy it within a couple of minutes which is easy, just use amazon checkout, takes less than a minute to buy.

Unfortunately I wanted to do that but have been busy and only managed to get in 12 hours so far :(

Would you buy any chance remember what thread you posted the video in or have a link to the video I would like to take a look?

Very true.:D

Recorded using phone is my system(GPU) messed up or is this the game?. Seeing all sorts of weird disappearing details and shadows.

just a quick example of door textures that is the distance it transitions in places.capturede image quality is'nt great but its just to highlight the doors changing

I remember that video. I didn't realise that was yours.

I orginally thought it was just the mannequin on the left that popped in but upon rewatching it, I can see there are number of objects on the table that also pop in as well as a mannequin to the right. Intrestingly the second mannequin doesn't pop in just before the video ends.

Lets see if they fix this (and the effects of the fix) or if it is intend behaviour.

yep, I originally thought it was my system causing issues (slow memory/vram)but I don't believe it is.
Game just seems to have a really low distance for detail in some areas.
I don't mind pop in so much but in a slow situation like that it ruins it a little for me.

So in some aspects the game looks amazing but in others it is way behind.
I imagine there is a lot of shuffling going on in game engine and people are seeing a worst version of this on PS4/Xbox as the engine fights to keep what it believes is on screen/visible at a high level of detail.

link to someone playing the same scene (close enough) on a 3090 if you are interested. The mannequin also pops in as he goes through the door although Evelyn is much closer. (I went back to capture my video).

I'm trying to watch the video but there is sound but the videos is paused  Plus it's in a crappy low resolution anywyay.

I never buy a game on release mostly for these reasons, bugs etc. I wait to see what other people's experiences are first. Hopefully they can patch it up.

Somebody wrote this "Setting both of the Cascaded Shadows settings to high apparently fixed the pop-in. I think the game doesent really know how to render the graphics on a lower setting, hence the problems on console."

what links?
Short memory too I see :p

We only discussed it this morning and it is on the last page. Here you go:

Actually - tests show that at 4k with Ray Tracing on the game uses 10gb vram - ok for the 3080 but enough to kill the 3070. Performance is still affected though - minimum framerates on Te 3090 is up to 45% higher than the 3080 with Ultra ray tracing at 4k

Forgive me if I do not take your word for it. Give me a few links showing me this. I have not seen my vram counter go much past 9gb. Could be because I use DLSS though I guess. But then again the settings you mentioned are not playable at 4K without DLSS anyway, so a moot point.

FS2020 vram usage on 3080 - Ultra 4K flying over NYC... some definite stuttering in places, no wonder they didn't bother with RT, generally 28-35fps. I also saw RAM usage at 22.5GB

Yeah, basically the card runs out of grunt before vram anyways. Don’t think RT has anything to do with that though. Flight Simulator games seemingly take forever to make. We are lucky to even get the leap we got with FS2020. Good thing is they are still working on it and hopefully soon it will be able to use more CPU cores and maybe even get RT. But yeah, that game is like the new Crysis. It will take next gen cards to get it to 60fps at 4K.
