10GB vram enough for the 3080? Discuss..

You know the best thing that came out of it today is the sales overall will be so poor for 40 series that the devs will have to make sure 8GB and 10GB cards still play nice with their games or they will never sell the games.

Also the value of 30 series has settled now as once the real reviews are out all the 2x 4x and 5 x claims will be proven BS and again DF will play innocent to being Nvidia shills as was jays2cents today shilling hard for nvidia, well he better do his other company that he shilled for now doesn't make graphics so he will shill their psus and motherboards and anything else they may make.

Honestly pretty naff day today from Nvidia from BS transistor counts to Gameworks behaviour again to artificially nerf previous gen, they can stick it really. Come on AMD show us all what you are made of, but I think I know the answer with your gpus sadly with Nvidias behaviour today.

Spot on. Very poor show, think dlss 3 could be pretty good though but need far more testing/footage on that before commenting on it much more.

No doubt there will be a few games sponsored by nvidia pushing the vram limits now to get people to upgrade but ultimately given the % of ampere owners etc. Developers will have to make it work for the mass market, not to mention, they can't go pushing above consoles too much either, given how many games are already sacrificing graphical settings including RT and resolution to maintain 60 fps let alone even 30 in some scenarios on the current gen consoles.... Aside from vram, it's now going to also be interesting to see how much nvidia dial up the RT effects in their sponsored games too.

Given I play at 3440x1440 more often than 4k and use fsr 2.1/dlss where possible, I suspect the 3080 will last a good couple of years for 99% of use cases though so all is good for the time being..... :p ;) :D

Well I have to say today's announcements haven't made me the slightest bit interested in upgrading my 3080. Actual reviews might make me reconsider but at that price it'll be a real hard sell. With the pound in the toilet against the dollar we might even see a MORE expensive £ price than $ price.

After having read the portal RTX article and seeing all the new RT effects as well as some of their unusual wording on the performance of it and cranking up the light bounces etc. I'm far more concerned about the lack of dlss 3 frame generation or/and rt grunt now.... I can sacrifice other settings just not RT settings :o :p

That only matters if the 4070 is faster than the 3080 tbh, otherwise its more of a nothing burger. I'm sure we all live in hope... :p
I expect the 4070 to be slower than a 3080 unless it's close in spec to the 4080 12gb and even that card I don't expect to be more than 10-15% faster.

3090 performance should not be more than $500 really.

Would you accept £575 collected for the 3080Ti?

@TNA I'm just teasing you so don't get all straw man on me ;). Also good buy and a good time to let that 3070 go to a new home and at least someone gets some use out of it and not pay for the 40 series silliness.

I was wondering how long it would take someone to pick up on that ;)
