12GB vram enough for 4K? Discuss..

The thinking and logic seems to be that it's best to spend many £100's of £'s extra on hardware, over the programming of a £40-£50 game on release.

It's never the game though - always the hardware you need to change - don't wait for those things that have been added to games forever - called patches/updates etc. Nope - rush out and get a better card.

Whole thing was brought about and driven by the divisive AMD online customer services operative. That is all we need to know.

If we look back at the original 10GB thread, it was started by someone else. Nothing to do with me at all so again, stop talking nonsense. At various points throughout the 10GB thread, people asked for an example of where 10GB was not enough. That was provided (shock horror!). It's not our fault you can't accept that, choose to ignore that, and choose to insult me and anyone else that says otherwise. Those results I posted from PcGamesHardware and later Computerbase (which you claimed were false and threw a load of your usual insults at the time par for the course) have now been backed up by multiple 3080 owners, Tommy, Stooeh, Gerard, etc.

Regarding turning settings down, lets clear up something else. If you don't run maximum settings, this is less of an issue. If you don't install the optional texture pack, its not an issue at all. For some reason this was very difficult for people (yourself included) to grasp when the game came out when you were disputing the (biased - your words) tech press results. However if you want to see an issue, you copy the settings used by said tech press which means you run at maximum settings. No one ever said you cant turn settings down, but if you want to test if 10GB (or 12GB) is enough and you want to validate the tech results, you use max settings. This is just basic common sense, hopefully now its been explained to you it will sink in, although given your age I suspect it will all be forgotten when your next drunken rant commences.

The rest of us probably couldn't be arsed by this point discussing other titles struggling on 10Gb.

Whenever 3080 users pointed out 10Gb being poor-it was walls of nonsense full of negativity aimed their way with the 90 and AMD used as some form of justification.

Some still maintain in total ignorance its just FC6-the one title.

All because they believed the one person@ocuk told the forum they can run FC6 max everything on 10gb because they showed it running ok for wee bursts of gameplay footage.

Not surprised their FC6 worked ok over a short space of time, staying in the one map point, making sure not to trigger map streaming, and they didn't record ANY active raytracing, I could re create those vids on an 8Gb 3070@4K FFS.

Despite plenty saying in FC6 threads in here it was ok/they enjoyed it/didn't enjoy it but the default excuse is 'but the games *****'.

No one who plays games @4k uses max settings or ultra preset. You turn AA up to max at 4k? You like motion blur and all those enhancements made for low resolutions @ 4k, you turn those on do ya? You only play benchmarks and football manager - you don't even play graphical games - when you do you like that immersive perf data over your screen - this isn't how gamers play games.

You need to get some understanding around why for apples to apples comparisons on review sites use those settings. FOR APPLES TO APPLES - they aren't want any experienced gamers use for actual settings @4k. Though I see in other threads lots of people use presets or geforce experience - spend all that £££ on hardware - only to not understand what all the graphical settings are for and how to use them - these folk better off with consoles.

Didn't say graphical enhancements - enhancements for low resolutions, though blur helps with low fps blurring out the slideshow when panning. You are right though they don't make the gfx look better - they just help mitigate performance shortfalls and enhance tyhe experience at low res and/or fps.

@Nexus18 Problem is, when we use any vram in games at all, it always come down to one or all of the following:

- game is old, who still plays that
- game is ****, who on earth plays that
- game is sponsored by amd, not fair
- hardly any games have high quality textures so who cares
- who on earth enables high quality textures

Doesn't matter what game it is, it will be one of the excuses above.

I know but according to one or 2, the consoles were better than a 3080 10gb for 4k gaming because of this and being able to use "all" 16gb as vram

None of the current consoles are anywhere near even a 3060, actually closer to a 2070 but I actually think even less than that in real world.

Consoles do a very good job for their use and cost compared to a PC with same specs. I honestly think this year they should have pushed a PS5 Pro with 2x the performance of the PS5 as they did with PS4 and PS4 Pro. If the world was not in such a mess with inflation and high costs of living we may of had one this year but guessing this generation may never get a Pro device and just jump to PS6.. We will see I hope they do make a PS5 Pro and a new design that doesn't look like this current model and more PS4 Pro like and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

Just watching reviews of Forespoken and ohh dear another game sold as something else and in real game code is something comically bad.. Forget the graphics but the game play and story look really bad..

His review hits many good points about the game below... Spend loads of money on gaming gear to be given games like this and cyberpunk was just as bad too when it came out and made people update their hardware for a very meeh game too. Ohh dear they really need to fix the games and give gamers games that are even worth playing especially at the silly prices now for games too.

Does anyone have a pc review of the game ? so far seeing only console version of the game.

No PC prerelease copies have been sent out to reviewers, probably going to be another shoddy PC port.

Regardless of the quality of the game its going to be interesting to see what kind of a difference direct storage makes, if any

Watched that review, it sounds like typical current modernity, Its current year and ...... the world is full of people who are their identity and guess what? They are all victims, of what you ask? 'You' now that you asked, that's right.... because you asked and all this makes them emotionally traumatised like arrested development adult children who are empowered to be reactionary, ill tempered and narcissistic which of course is a strong and brave personality trait in the current year so this is what we are supposed to empathise with.

That's fine, but when you go between 0,3 seconds vs 5 or 10 seconds doesn't really matter that much.
