2008 Canadian Grand Prix - Race 7/18

And I nearly choked on my drink when I heard Allen saying Kibuca was "no Brad Pitt"

I was shocked when he said that. Clearly he shares my feelings ;)

He is a great driver though and it would take a great driver to out score him. I rate him along with Kimi, with Hamilton and Alonso at the top.

What I like about Kubica is that he seems so calm, which is a good quality to have as it means that he is less likely to get excited and make rash mistakes (like Hamilton, in the pits and when Alonso is around him). His driving is bullet proof.

So we shouldn't have rules??

No, however I think there's too many rules and regs atm. Having so many leaves loopholes left right and centre. Go to a BTCC/WTC/Clio Cup race and tell me that it isn't 10 times more exciting then F1; and that's got nothing to do with overtaking etc. It's because 90% of the time the stewards just let the drivers get on with it.

EDIT did Alonso swear? I remember one of the two idiots apologising for his language but I don't remember anything specific?

ok hypothetical for you. Last race of the season, Kimi is 2 points ahead of Hamilton, person in third place is 12 points behind hamilton. Only Kimi and hamilton could win the championship.
Kimi decides not to see the red light at the end of the pitlane takes both cars out, wins the championship, should stewards just let it go?

Depends entirely on the circumstances as I'm sure you're aware.

Fact is, Kimi made an error in Monaco by failing to keep his brakes up to temperature. He admitted it himself and who's to say the team weren't on the radio after seeing it on the telemetry, which I'm pretty sure they would have and even if not Kimi is more then experienced enough to have known this. He wasn't punished. Why? He made a critical mistake which led to Sutil and his team being denied possibly the greatest moment they could possibly have experienced all season and Kimi losing a few points.

Lewis made an error in that he was taking a moment to reflect or whatever, didn't see the red light and broke too late considering the dusty road. Punishable? According to the rules yes, so fair enough, however it was far from deliberate just as Kimi's incident. A critical mistake being punished by a 10 place grid penalty for the next race.

It's an endless debate. IMO the FIA really need to sort the rule book as I think it's too confusing as to what they would consider a punishable offence or not.

I also see that most people here are banging on about Lewis, Rosberg did exactly the same don't forget yet many aren't mentioning him, the media included. Sad state of affairs.

Senna (in a Mclaren for the Ferrari International Assistance fanboys) deliberately rammed Prost in a Ferrari at the first bend in the last Grand prix of the season to do exactly what you say in your post to become WC without any penalty.

Not really, either the rule is there or it isn't.

But Schumaker didn't get away with it.

So Kimi decides to take Sutil out instead of hitting the wall, is there a rule for that?

Kimi tried to keep his car on the track, which was the correct thing to do, even for the race. A ferrari slamming into the wall at 180mph would bring out a safety car.

There is no rule stating a driver must have his brakes to a certain temp, at leas Kimi came out and admitted it. Hamilton was all if buts and maybe's. 'If i ruined kimi's race' i mean what the....

oh yeah, that was when drivers were EVIL:eek:

So by your view, Lewis is in the clear. He made an error, same as Kimi. He tried to do the least amount of damage upon realising that error, as you say so did Kimi; yet he was punished. Why wasn't Kimi? There's no clear line at all. Plenty of other incidents that are open to scrutiny. There is no rule that states a driver must no lock up his breaks and run into the back of someone in the pit lane....

As I say that's my view; and I won't change what I think. I've seen all the replays I could want, however I stand by my view. The rules are a bag of **** and need to be sorted out in the interest of racing.

I'd like to offer my opinion on the incident but I'm worried I'll get suspended if I disagree with NathanE. Is this the case?

Wondering the same myself. NathanE Would make a great ITV commentator. Nothing is ever the messiahs fault from his point of view.
